Hmm, I can't see I really believe all the speaking in tongues stuff, but I can say I do believe in God.

The main reason is because having a purpose in life does help a person out in all kinds of way. One man, whose name I cannot remember but this is true, studyed the various people in the concentration camp and noticed that the people whom had a purpose in life, even someone at home waiting for them such as a wife, would live longer than even the physically stronger people.

I'm not sure what's harder to believe, matter appearing from a super-being, or matter just already being there. And I don't know anyone who can really explain it, since they're both really uncomprehensible dead ends.

Also, I think that athiesm has done jack for the world. I don't care if it's the most (un)believed religion fueled by science, but wouldn't you rather want to live a life to help others rather than yourself. I just think rather than Darwin's "Survival of the Fittest" (rumour says he repented on his death bed) the story of the Good Samaritan really does stand out to me.

However, I'm just a young chappy with too much spare time on his hands, I'm not professionally studied in this subject, and all my friends are athiests and I accept that. But once the world gets itself into a mess, people realise that the youth is going down the drain, people look for other solutions, and I think God is the solution. It's better than nothing right?

And about not being helped by God, isn't the offer of life after death enough to ease your chops...

Anyway, I like talking about this subject as long as people aren't just downright intolerent jerks, which is nothing I've heard of yet, but I always like to hear peoples thoughts on life, after all, it is pretty important... *sarcastically gestates something small with his hand*

People who go to church are more relaxed and there fore have a little less stress then people who dont go to church. People who go to church live life more safely with out drugs and shit.. sadly i dont go to church so im full of stress and drugs hehe.
and btw Ii dont agree with the way some preachers and pastors twist the words of the bible, thats the main reason i dont go but i still pray everynight

No offence vergo but while athiesm has done "jack" for the world, other religions sure as hell have done lots of shit for the world. Bloodbaths, crusades, slaughters and wars, etc. I wonder, if everyone shared the same religion or nobody was religous at all, how many less wars would we have had?

And you know pirates_dc, you just need a strong will to don't do drugs. I'm not religious and I do not use any kinds of drugs nor do I drink alcohol. Call me crazy, but true story.

Ahahaha, yeh man that's is so true (about the wars and crap, I live in the UK where we have to put up with Ireland right beside up!!). But, I guess I'm looking at the picture where everyone has a brain and a decent set of morals ie murdering is wrong no matter what.

I know lots of people who are not religious but know right from wrong, and I respect you and others like you just as much (or maybe more) than religious people, since they already know the guidlines. But, I'm assuming your parents are good people, and for that you should be thankful, but I've always thought that ethics originated from religion. 'Why else should we be good when life finishes after death and there are no consequences?' See what I mean...sort of?

And extra kudos for avoiding the drinking and smoking. Life is good, make it enjoyable.

    Most certainly, Cookie Monster.

No more replies from me today. Time for bed. I just want to say vergo, that I fully intend to enjoy my life. And so far it's been a damn good one without any drinking, smoking or drug abusing.

    Good night people.

I don't believe in god, I believe we are born, while we are living we reproduce, and when our time comes we die.

Yeah, that's currently the most popular belief. Bit sad though isn't it, unless you're a genious or a celebrity, you won't be remembered (ever seen 'A Phaoroh To Remember' - Futurama ) which is why the quesiton of an afterlife can bring hope to a person.

It's also my bedtime so goodnight all who partook this discussion. It's good to learn from other peoples thoughts.

Yeah, I didn't read all of your other posts before I replied to that.

But that means you have faith for other reasons.

If the only reason you believe in God is because you are afraid of hell, that's no faith. It's like those who go to church, but embody everything that is unholy...They don't even believe in their religion...they just hope to save themselves. If they really think a God exists, do they think he's that foolish?
