Well, the only downside to using newsgroups is that you're limited to what people upload at any given time. Meaning, the chance you'll find Rasputina could be slim indeed. Unless it's popular, in which case people will upload it ad nauseam.

Seems like it isn't popular. Damn it. So I've checked eMule, DC, BitTorrent, newsgroups and IRC for Rasputina, and eMule is the only place where I've had any real success... And it's either slow as hell, or not downloading at all.

Which Rasputina are you trying to get?

Here's a few tips on getting the most out of Emule:

Connect to both a popular server (RazorBack 2 is a good choice) & the KAD.

When doing a search, make sure you set Method to Global (Server) then do your search for Rasputina.

After getting the results, do a second search, only this time be more specific:
Use the file's complete name in the search box, set Type to Archive or Audio, depending on which it is, set the Min & Max Size to within whatever the file is, and put in the file's extension.

The reason you need to do this, is because Emule doesn't do a continuous search of all the servers; it stops searching after about 30 seconds, so the search isn't as thorough.

Then if you still haven't found what you want, set Method to Kad Network, and do another search; unlike with (Global) Server, this search is continuous, so give it a few minutes to search through all the connected clients.

Finally, look in the results under Complete Sources. If you see 0%, then chances are very slim that you will be able to get that entire file. But if there is any number besides 0 there, then there is at least one complete source.

To minimize your wait times in the queues, set your max upload speed to the near-maximum of your connection speed. Also if you're behind a firewall, NAT, have a router, etc. you need to forward some ports to get a High ID. With a Low ID, you cannot connect to others with Low ID's, only those with High ID's. But with a High ID, you can connect to anyone, High or Low.

Finally, for small files, like Mp3's I recommend that you try either EDonkey or Shareaza. Probably Shareaza is your best choice. The reason: Emule divides files into 9.28 MB hashes and uploads & downloads them 9.28 MB at a time. Most MP3's are smaller than that, so you have to wait forever for the few sources who actually have the files to upload them to you. Both Edonkey and Shareaza divide files into much smaller segment, so there are more upload & download sources available, so you get the smaller files faster.

I've had Cabin Fever before, but... Oh look, now I have it again. Go eMule go. ...but my Rasputina collection was erased the other day - I was lucky to find backups of their four other albums/singles/whatever. I've seen parts of The Lost & Found floating around DC, so it can't be that hard to find... The Olde Headboard, though, that shouldn't be very easy to get at all.
