Maybe, they get a virus and see that everyone else is blaming EP for the virus so everyone else just follows making it sound like a big epidemic, when in fact it's not true at all? It could happen.Originally Posted by Valholy

Allright, just what we need is more "EP has viruses" thread bullshit. Dont listin to the rumours going around on other sites. There all just pissed because they dont have a well developed community such as us. And to them I say..."Fuck You"(not to anyone here)

true Valholy, but in the past we did not use self-executable files on here either. we used either .rar or .zip, or even .7z for some files... It's just the compiled .exe files that are often mistaken as viruses by certain AV's...Originally Posted by Valholy

Actually, we're stopping the use of the self extracting exe's. They're being replaced as we speak. Infact, only the PSX and Sega CD ISO's remain ah yes and the GBA New Releases also, the rest have already been changed back to .rar,.zip or .7z.
Good. I'm not saying the EXE files *were* viruised, but some antivirius programs *think* they might be.Actually, we're stopping the use of the self extracting exe's. The spyware does come from *browsing* at EP for sure though. Didn't you see my screen shot? That little window isn't actually a window, it's a picture of a window that is placed on a layer of the page on top of everything else, probably by the advertisers.
It tries to install spyware.
Anyway, about all this "You guys have viruses so go to hell and die, all of youse" nonsense. I have yet to see another site that offers so much quality PSX isos, and this place has a nice community as well.
The worst site I've been to is probably where they list PSX isos as "not guaranteed downloads". My ass. And there's a voting system, too - which obviously won't let you pass. There's a small notice somewhere that the ISOs are currently not hosted by them. So THAT is bullshit, not this "virus at EP nonsense". I wonder if there are ANY normal sites out there, like EmuParadise.
The annoying stuff on the main website is really just a ploy to get people to dump IE and join the Firefox revolution. Or at least that's my take on it.
Im always at emuparadise, guess what ...... i dont have any spyware in my computer nor viruses or anything else ,sometimes you get spyware from other sites but they will appear just after some time ,not to much time though, trying to install things and either if you click that you dont want to install such things, that same thing will keep coming in the future asking to install that same stuff, unless you get rid of it using some program to eradicate this kind of spyware , thats what i can say i may be wrong since im well protected all the time, but again as i said before ive been here since much time and before i wasnt protected with any kind of antispyware program , i never had spyware from hereOriginally Posted by Nerd42

That's what I want to be different about this thread! I don't want to say, "You are spreading viruises you Nazis!" I DO want to say, "There's a problem here with spyware, somebody else is trying to attack your users with it, could you please check it out?" and "thanks" and "let's try to help catch the bad guys!"Anyway, about all this "You guys have viruses so go to hell and die, all of youse" nonsense. This is definately one of the best emulation sites on the Net and I love it. I REALLY REALLY do! I'm pretty new, but I've been able to do amazing things with my computer that I didn't think were possible a month ago - all thanks to emuparadise.org!
But my computer HAS gotten infected with spyware and it DID come from browsing at emuparadise.org and that's a serious concern. Somebody's probably attacking IE users by attacking your site in ways you can't see or haven't noticed.
OK, here's the bit I said I'd post about viruis issues generally:
There are people who just HATE game-hackers out there and write malicious code specifically targeted to that demagraphic. They must feel vindicated doing it too, like vigilanties. Breaking the law (writing emulator viruises/adware/spyware) in order to stop other people from only technically breaking the law. (violating copyrights)
So I think I even understand why people write these things. I don't understand viruis writing generally. It can't be very fun to do. Sounds alot like work to me.
Stupid thing to do, writing viruises. Some people really need to get a life. (like me, only my problem is playing Final Fantasy all day long, thanks to the wonderful amazing people at emuparadise.org)
By the way, my computer is clean now according to my protection software, and it knows what it's talking about.
I hope.

There is also one thing that the people accusing EP don't get. Look at the number of people on the forums and the activity. If this site was just spreading viruses and spyware, how come there are thousands of happy users here?
Have you seen me before?
Are you listening to what I'm saying? That's because it's a great site! I'm not "accusing" it, I don't want to "accuse" it! I think it's under attack! There is also one thing that the people accusing EP don't get. Look at the number of people on the forums and the activity. Finally, at last, here is that screeny!
This thing IS trying to get me to install spyware, it comes up every time I get to most any page on the main site, and I was stupid enough not to click "cancel" the first time which I still can hardly believe!
That said, it's still a great site as long as you can avoid that bit. The roms and ISOs work GREAT, they download fast and run like the wind, the staff is incredible and even puts up with MY dumb stupid ignorant questions and comments occasionally, and it's even a nice site design.
I don't care who it's coming from, it needs to be gotten rid of because it's spyware. Then the happy story ends. hooray.
[later] Hey wait a second ... I think I might have another explanation for this. Is it possible that someone on another site wrote an adware viruis thing that gets inside internet explorer and makes this happen whenever an IE user (who has been to their site) tries to send his browser to the "www.emuparadise.org" domain, and THEN that gets the webHancer spyware going?
Such a virius would probably contain a list of such sites that trigger it, possibly updated from time to time by it's checking the voting sites lists...
nah, that's what I usually call a "Conspiracy Theory" and I'm determined not to believe in those again. But then, thats just what They wanted me to do...![]()

Is that one of the things Emuparadise was using to gain money?
Bottom line, you're vulnerable to more stuff running IE. It's just not worth it.
