My Trade List (Not up-to-date)
I'm a math teacher, so let's plus the bed, minus the clothes, divide the legs and multiply the joy

AMD AthlonXP 2000+
512 Mb of PC2700 DDR RAM

I first purchased this PC, which is the first and only PC that I have ever owned, in August of 2001 and have since replaced everything in it except for the WD 40 gig and the original case I ended up having to replace the RAM and the vid card since both of them took a crap on me (but not at the same time). Then later on I was foolish enough to leave my PC in my car for 2 days and moisture had gotten inside and ruined the board, so I ended up replacing that too. The rest of it was upgraded because I wanted a faster system. Here are the original items that my PC was built with, which were state of the art and best money could buy back then...And what really irritates me is what I paid for it..roughly $1400
ASUS A7D266 MB
AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1200
256 Mb PC2100 DDR RAM
WD 40 Gb HD
NVidia GeForce 2 MX 400 64 Mb (4X AGP)
Mitsumi 16X CD burner
DVD ROM

the thunderbirds were good CPUs my dad used a 1ghz 1 that was state of the art when he got it and he JUST upgraded about a month back to a Athlon 64 3200+ his new computer is almost exactly the same as mine except i have a 256mb 9600XT and he has a 128mb 9200Pro
Yeah...another good CPU was the cheaper end of AMD...more specifically the AMD Duron 600. That chip is STILL running in a lower end system I put together for a friend of mine who just likes to surf the net and chat alot
hell a 200mhz computer is fine for internet and email. we have a client we call"Bullet Bob" that has to have a top of the line computer at all times. i mean he has a Athlon 4000+ ATI X600 All in Wonder just for email and internet >< realy dumb if you ask me. its a waiste of money
One thing that just sickens me though is the fact that we have already reached the speed barrier for 32 bit systems...so now the XP series of AMD are no longer being made for 32 bit so I will eventually have no choice but to upgrade to a 64 bit chip and board
yeah but its not to expensive i mean the cost it took me to build my system (see page 20 of this thread) was only about 400-500

Realtek audio . . . does this mean you have a VIA chipset? (I wasn't even aware VIA made a PCX, AMD64 board. I know nVidia has the nForce4 Chipset out . . . but I thought they used their own "SoundStorm" audio . . .)Originally Posted by Deach
