If you check the Game Purchases thread, you will see, among other things, that I bought a PS Power Replay Game Enhancer. After a bit of checking, I find that this functions as a Mod ChipAnd...it works. For $3, I modded my $5 PSX.
EDIT: This is the Mod Chip http://www.chipzone.com/shop/showdet..._ID=11&CATID=1To play Import and CD-R Backup disks:
Move the switch on the Game Enhancer to the "On" position. Insert a black bottom Psx game .Make sure the drive switch will remain depressed. Keep the Lid Open. Turn the Psx power on and the disk will start to spin. Wait for the disk to stop spinning and remove the black bottom disk. Place the CD-R Backup or the import disk into the Psx Go to "START GAME" and press the "O" key and the disk will start spinning again and boot up like normal.
