the previews made it look darker than what it really was, but nonetheless it was good.

I've actually been watching a ton of foreign movies lately..A LOT of them have left a very deep mark on me..
A good example is "Kid's Story" direct by Takeshi Kitano. I love Kitano and all his movies are totally awesome. This movie was no different.

I haven't seen a good american movie for some time now and I was feeling swamped in the crap out there. A few of the good ones have come on dvd/vhs now..but I already saw them in the theatre!

So maybe Constantine wasn't the best movie EVER, but I still liked it a lot. I agree the pacing was a little too fast and some of the characters are just there, but I liked it anyway XD

I'm going to make a thread on some worthwhile Foreign movies...
    Check it out

I'm a scheptical SOB whenever it comes to action flicks or horror flicks, or pretty much any flick... So yeah, I'm not hoping for much with this one... These days it's all about CG, CG, CG... I tell ya... I'm old...

I have to agree with you on this one, while I did like Constantine..There hasn't been many movies lately I've liked at all.

It's all about the effects and not about the story at all. I'm sick of it
This is why I love my foreign films..
I find it very irritating that when I mention foreign films, people automatically assume the worst..Like foreign films are all shit or something. WTF?
There are some Awesome movies out there..and foreign movies tend to not rely on CG. They are driven by plot and it's characters..
I suppose that's why a lot of people are so turned off by Foreign flicks...I guess they don't want story, they want effects, action and killing.

My boyfriend is kind of like that, it's hard to get him to watch foreign movies..However a lot of them that we've watched he's ended up liking..However he has a really short attention span, so slower movies are like pulling teeth to him.
I personally enjoy movies that take their time and don't move at breakneck pace...However I don't mind one of those once and a while.

Two of my favourite American Action/Horror flicks are Se7en and 12 Monkeys. Neither relied on special effects at all really..They had a bit, but nothing on the scale of Matrix or anything.

Wow....As I was typing that last sentence, 12 Monkeys just came on o.0
Anyways yeah, I'm pretty picky about these kinds of movies too..but for some reason I really liked Constantine..It's not the type of movie I'd usually like..Oh well. XD

Well, I'm sure you're not too old for some Advent Children CG, but that's another topic. I've read some comments that Constantine's story telling moved real fast, much like the Trojan war was depicted as a few weeks long in Troy. Yet in spite the negative criticism, I still look forward to seeing it and possibly buying the book/comic after. Wee! I wanna, I wanna!

Pass on the flick and pick up some issues of the comic instead. You'll be far more entertained, in my ever so humble opinion.

The first time I saw the promo (a few weeks back?), I thought this was some sort of sequel to "The Devil's Advocate"...

    Yay!

I thought that movie was fucking awesome.

went and saw it last night.

Best movie I've ever seen that strongly involves anything religous.

Thanks for the advice Cyberxion, I'll keep that in mind. Hmm.. less CG, more story involving religion.. Oh! Does Constantine compare to The Passion? For me, I like CG a lot, especially the cute and funny - I'm looking forward to Madagascar () - and the fantasy types like FF, so I'll gladly pass The Passion for Const anytime.

Uhm... I don't think Constantine is even remotely similar to The Passion...

Constantine is an action flick. The Passion was... S&M...?

With Keanu Reeves in it you shouldn't expect much in terms of acting.

Just saw it the other day myself.

First let me say that i have not read any hellblazer comics. I liked the movie, mainly for the concept, but i felt it just didnt come together very well. Obviously this is in part due to trying to cram a great deal of content into the length of a movie. I felt a lot of characters didnt really get developed, unlike say hellboy where a similar feeling of condensed content didnt prevent you from getting a great feel for the characters.

Still the feel of the movie is slick, so if you are into that sorta thing you should come away happy enough. Makes me wanna pick up some hellblazer comics. Just wish theyd stir some more mythos into the pot besides catholicism. So go see it if you wanna see Neo/Ted Theodore Logan lay the smack down on some demons.
