You're thinking the wrong way. If you have a program like BNR, you can access pretty much every 'group in existance. It's where I get all my stuff. I'm up to about 320 PS2 games at last count.Originally Posted by Soldier

BNR is a newsreader program. You'll be able to access newsgroups through this program, but in order to do so, you'll have to have access to newsgroups through your ISP. For instance, I use Cox internet, and one of the servers I'd use to access newsgroups would be news.west.cox.net. I type this into the relevant area within the program, and I'm able to download a list of all the available 'groups. I'm not sure which servers you'd need for your particular ISP, but a quick search on Google should turn up something. I'm sure that with a little snooping, you'll be able to find that out. Once you do, it's an easy matter of getting the program set up to download stuff.
Once you guys figure out your server info, lemme know and I'll post a quick and easy usage guide for you, as well as a link to a resource that lets you know what's been upped on which groups, so that you don't have to randomly search all over for stuff.

Aaaahhh!! How are you supposed to know the name of a server to type in??
Oh no, a new type of download program to figure out... And I thought IRC was confusing...
Thanks man. I think I might be in luck, as I have used Xana News with my ISP's server, and i can get the DC stuff...it was always a hassle though...Originally Posted by Cyberxion
I suggested checking Google. Type in your ISP's name followed by "news servers", and you should find something. As far as the program goes, it's insanely easy once you start using it. IRC has nothing on this, as far as ease of use goes.Originally Posted by toadlord
If you need help getting the program up and running, PM me and I'll gladly jump on MSN to walk you through it.Originally Posted by Sprung
EDIT: It turns out that in the case of my ISP, they don't have specific news servers for each town they service, so I'm able to use all three regions servers (West/Central/East) to access newsgroups. That might be the case for your particular ISP, and if it is, then you should definitely use all the available servers you can. The more you use, the greater the speed. I routinely download things at about 400kbps on Cable, which isn't too bad.

Ah, great resource, Josh! Great find indeed.Originally Posted by Josh

The site that houses all the listings is called Link Removed. Might as well get that out of the way. You can find out what's been posted as well as where, and in most cases you'll be able to check what name the file's been posted under, which makes it all the more easy to find it.
EDIT: It should be noted that your ISP might have a limit on how long it retains newsgroup articles, so it's best to grab something as soon as possible, rather then to wait. For instance, Cox only retains the articles found on binary groups for 6 days.
EDIT II: The newslisting shows warez listings, so just PM me if you want the site.
