YES! YES! YES! The almighty Guardian Heroes, the best game ever made for Saturn, which I finished with my brother in 2-player mode about 7 times (there are lots of endings, that's why). Everybody, try this game, extremely addictive and real fun to play.
That's it, nice work, linkinkampf!
I'll post the original picture here, as I have said, the cleric, Nicole, and the undead knight can be seen on it with some enemies.
Thanks, GareJei. To think somehow I remember seeing screenshots of that game, but I never played it. Must be a great game, and I see it in the tracker section...
Now for my turn...
Although this is not a very popular game, it is in my book. Only hint for now, but more to come. And if it is too tough to discern, please say so.
I have this feeling it's a fighting game. If it's not a popular game, it can't be Tekken or Soul Calibur.
So just a random guess: Power Stone? It was for Dreamcast I think, but I'm not sure.
Sorry, GareJei, it is not for the Dreamcast, nor for any other home console....
But it is a fighting game. Strange name also, so don't feel bad if you spell it wrong.
BTW... anyone realize this thread is boiling down to a two/three person showoff? That's not necessarily a bad thing, but we need some more life in here. Come on everybody! Let's get this thread up to a true guessing game again!
Also, I'll be in class for the next few hours, so don't expect to see me replying too much. Good luck though.

There seems to be a japanese temple in the bakcground, but there's only a single lifebar on the top-left, so it can't be a one-on-one game... There also seems to be a life bar of sorts on the bottom of the screen...
Sorry to both Chaos and Castlevania, but you are both waaayyyy off.
Chaos, it is not Tekken or KOF, and Castlevania, you are right about it not being a one-on-one fighter.
The only hints I can really give is that it involves fighting monsters, none of which I can reveal right now, 'cuz that'll give everyone too much of an advantage, and that you have a choice of playing as three characters all with thier own movesets (though not with numerous specials). Good luck and I hope to see more answers soon.
Also... that is a life bar on the bottom.

Frozen Sky, sorry, you do not have a winning piece. Please try again.
World Heroes, World Heroes 2, and World Heroes 2 Jet were 2-player fighting games, but this game is one player only. Good try though.
Edit: Oops... I bluffed. After searching around myself on the web, I found that this game does in fact support 2-players, but not fighting each other.
One More EDIT: Seeing that this hasn't been answered in the past day almost, I think I should give a few more hints. Firstly, sorry about the two-player mix-up. I have only ever played it single player, and never noticed the "insert coin" bit in the upper right. Secondly, this game is a lot like King of the Monsters, excpet you are not a monster. You play as three different humans that have special moves, each which cover the elements, Water, Fire, and Earth. Lastly, this game was a different name in Japan, similar to a somewhat subpar PC action game here in the States. In that game, you played a girl who had secret powers you uncovered throughout the game, on top of an assortment of crazy weapons. This game was also 3D, but the one you are guessing about is not at all. Hope that was enough. Good luck once again!

Hmm... There was a game called NinjaWarriors. It had 3 characters, it didn't have 2player mode, etc etc etc. But that was for SNES, and you said it's not a console game. Or is that a Ninja Warriors game I don't know of? My other guess is Battle Arena Toshinden... I don't think any of these guesses are right, but it's worth a try.
edit: Ah, nevermind, you said the name was tricky, so they're probably wrong guesses. I'm not so good at fighting games, maybe if it were an RPG...
Looks like you beat me to the post GareJei. I just answer with an edit in the post above, so check it out if you want more hints. I just feared the dreaded double post.
EDIT: It seems no one knows this game, so I feel like I should tell all of you. If that is the case, please reply and tell me that, because this hasn't gotten a guess in a while. I just wish there were some good hints I could give. All the ones I came up with are pathetic.

It's been a day since anyone has even given this a shot (thanks GareJei), and I"m on the verge of just giving the name away, but instead, I am going to give one last hint: This game's name almost sounds like the word of this definition:
"A transformation, as by magic or sorcery."
OR
"A marked change in appearance, character, condition, or function."
OR
"A usually degenerative change in the structure of a particular body tissue."
All from dictionary.com
Please answer so we can continue this great game!
Sorry for the double posting. Else this thread would die again.
