Dream Theater - Beyond This Life

Aaaah, haven't listened to SfaM for aboot a month, I feel like I've sinned. This song may have a rather overlong instrumental section, but still kicks firm arse.

You speak the words of the Babylon's pride. Yes, Winds of Creation is highly acclaimed as being one of the best pieces of metal ever to come out of Poland.

    Decapitated - Winds of Creation

The main song is probably the most brutal shit I've ever heard, the spontaneousity of the song shocks you the first time. It kicks your ass every time, so it never feels old. If you're not used to DM, the first time you listen to WoC it may sound way too irregular and annoying, you'll want to drop it and forget about it. Then come back a week later... and it's fucking masterpiece.

Fans of technical DM will feel love at first sight with this band, somewhat in the vein of Carcass and Necrophagist, without the gore lyrics.

The first song is "The Face of My Innocence". I reccomend you read the lyrics, they are extremely well written. I thank you too for... erm, some bands you've told me about(probably Cryptopsy and Opeth).

I feel the same way you do, FS. I love the whole gore thing, but his barking vocals are just too incomprehinsible for my tastes(I can't even tell if he's actually even moving his tounge/mouth when he growls). Read the lyrics, it's impossible to tell what that mofo is saying!

    Immortal - One by One

Because they fucking own. Immortal are now officially my favorite black metal band. 10000000 thanks to Howie and all that cold northern grimness, you forever rule beyond the Northern waves.

It's like... the only pure BM band that I actually get excited about, other than Behemoth(but they don't really count as BM anymore). Sure I love old Bathory, Behexen, and Naglfar amongst other shit, but nothing feels as crunchy, melodic, catchy, and original as Immortal. I've truly never heard anything like them.

Sonata Arctica - Fade to Black (Metallica Cover)

An extremely clean version of the legendary Fade to Black. Clean vocals, simple playing and the good 'ole Fade to Black. Too bad the last minute solo is replaced by a feint chant. =\

That's exactly why I fucking hate that song. They did a nice cover on Helloween's I Want Out and Maiden's Die With Your Boots On though.

    Necrophagist - Stabwound

Found them at the Relapse website, no doubt Howie and Soeru are already familiar. I'm liking it. Technical death metal stuff.

Oh and Howie, I listened to that Angel Of Death cover. Fantastic. There's a bunch of Maiden and King Crimson covers and shit also...

Heh, Necrophagist are indeed awesome. Not sure if that's from "Onset of Putrefaction" or "Epitaph", but I'll say that Onset is a much better album. If you like em, check out Wormed, a tech/experimental dm band from Spain. They're extremely good... and original. Awesome riffs and groove. With weird ass lyrics about space travel beyond the universe, human psychology, and quantum physics.

Bathory - A Fine Day to Die

The song that I frequently associate Bathory with... I need to listen to all of their albums...

    The Police - Synchronicity I

Woah. Not only am I starting to believe Synchronicity is the best Police album, but that it's a fudging masterpiece.

...Yeh, fudging, trying to cut down on swearing...
