Hedningarna - Vargtimmen

Holy crap, this sucks. Finntroll's cover is soooo much better than this.

edit: Soilwork's "Stabbing The Drama" and Graveworm's "(N)Utopia" has been leaked.

Compared to the platinum artists of the mainstream? Nup. Compared to Deathwish Nighthawk Corpsepillar, yes.

At The Drive-In - Shaking Hand Incision

One of the only songs I like on In Casino Out, the Indie-ness is a turn off for me. I much Prefer Relationship of Command, but this is still a nice stand alone song.

Rammstein aren't up on the charts like that twat Lil' John or Britney Spears, but every single person that is familiar with the term "heavy metal" knows of Rammstein. Just about everyone in my school who claims to be a metal fan say that Rammstein are their favorite band(not to mention they get played on MTV and the radio like hell). You cannot deny that the band is aimed at mainstream, but don't get me wrong, I like Rammstein.

    Rammstein - Asche zu Asche

Read the lyrics for a laugh, even if you don't understand German, you're bound to understand the lines just before the main chorus. Translation:
... and stick your finger in your... Ash! Ash to Ash!

    Btw, AtDI are good.

Edit: Yo, Arsis are currently writing new material. 4 songs so far, so not very long before we see their next album. Yay.

Edit2: Howie, just what the fuck is this?! I found this at your site. I always thought BM was kind of gay, but...

It's a result of a bad idea and boredom.
I made the clothes and corpse-paint, while a friend of mine took the pictures. Cute, ain't it?

    Turisas - As Torches Rise

Superb song from a superb album. You'll dig Cadacross if you like Turisas.

    O I... c.

Behemoth - ...From the Pagan Vastlands.

Wow, the early Behemoth sounds absolutely nothing like the recent stuff! They started off with pure early-90's style (melodic) black metal, much more melodic than the recent stuff. Nergal sounds completely different too. This was of course they acquired some death metal influence for their "Satanica" album. Very cool black metal.

Dragonforce - Valley of the Damned

The chorus is extremely catchy. I need to dig more speed metal. =]

    Korpiklaani - Hunting Song

Finally, some new Korpiklaani-material! Not bad either, a bit different from before, but still the good ol' Korpiklaani. Can't wait for Voice Of Wilderness.

    Samhian - Box Set

Glenn Danzig = Uber talented. And Samhain is, in my opinion, his best era. Darker and harder than the Misfits, and less jazzy than Danzig (not that there's a problem with the jazziness of Danzig 1-4). Anyone who likes The Misfits (1978-1983) and Danzig and has never heard Samhain should really check them out. Hell, contact me on AIM or MSN if necessary. I'll give you a few tracks. Or maybe the whole set. Whatever you want.

*glances at post* I will check this band out for the sole purpose that you mentioned Danzig in it.

Opeth - The Twilight Is My Robe

It appears that I deserve a castration for not having listened to Opeth nearly at all. I still haven't bothered to sit through all of the Opeth nor Dream Theater CDs. I don't know why, I know they are great bands, I just seem to involuntarily recoil whenever I hear the word 'progressive' for some reason. This is an 11 minute epic, with not that much singing, I'm getting through the first album and this was the track I happened to start on. Melodic as fuck, I will tape my head to the speakers until it is done. Great passages and entrancing soft parts... It's like melodic death to chill to.

They're latest CD which is the only Opeth release I've thoroughly listened to, isn't wow-ish at all. It's pretty darn good, only very soft. Not something you'd expect from a band labelled "death metal".

    Ensiferum - Guardians of Fate

My favourite off the self titled album (thanks btw for the other viking albums, Soeru. I didn't get around to thanking you ). The chant at the end triggers a whopping amount of adrenaline enough to headbang till dawn.

    Evil Elvis himself! Yeeeaaah!

    Nightwish - "Slaying the Dreamer"

Great stuff, right here. Overall, from their best album as well, IMO.
"I start to think there really is no cure for depression, that happiness is an ongoing battle, and I wonder if it isn't one I'll have to fight for as long as I live. I wonder if it's worth it."

Glen Danzig is more like Jim Morrison on steroids...

Heh, glad you enjoyed the viking metal albums. I'm always on the EP hub, for whenever you feel like slipping some albums from me under my nose.

Dismember - Tragedy of the Faithful

Track from the new album "Where Ironcrosses Grow". Pretty good. Who said Swedish metal had to be soft and melodic? This is probably the heaviest of all Swedish melodic death metal bands, not even At the Gates sound this brutal. Too bad their albums don't have very good recording quality. You can listen to this song at their site. It has a very nifty solo at the end.

Every metal fan should check this band out. The link in my sig isn't working at the moment. Give it some time, or come on down to the EP hub and download the song "Misanthropic" from me or Howie.

Edit: In Flames - December Flower(Live and Plugged '95)

This song has some of the most original riffs in all melodic death metal. For a while, I started to think that In Flames weren't so special after all. But after listening to all those At the Gates clones, I've realized that In Flames are really different after all. Out of all those melo death bands, very few actually sound like In Flames. Yes, they still are my favorite band.

Into Eternity - Behind the Disguise

Love the intro, and the whole song too. When the guy screams (well not really scream) suffer at the start, so darn great. These guys can always come up with a good solo

That's an Icelandic friend of mine's favorite band. 'Tis great melo death, and their solos are very cool. Damn, I can't wait to improve on my guitar so I can start soloing...

Hammerfall - Riders of the Storm

Okay, okay, so there last album was cheesy as fuck. I still love it, since it was my first Hammerfall album. "Glory to the Brave" was infinitely better though... A new EP(or album) comes out soon, yay.

So many new albums by bands that I like are coming out soon: Behemoth(well, in the US soon), Hammerfall, Children of Bodom, Judas Priest, Norther, Morbid Angel, Pandemonium, Soilwork, Arsis(yay! Not done writing yet...), Ceremonial Oath, Dark Tranquility(leaked), Avulsed(must be leaked soon), ... Ah. The endless fun of the internet.
