I dont think its really a fiar comparison. They both have their strengths and weaknesses, but they are also entirely different formats.
At least with console games you can pretty much guarantee that the games will work first time out of the box.

Touch my twat.
Breaking the seal on a console that you own is perfectly legal. It just voids the warrenty. Incidently, breaking the seal on a brand-name computer voids the warrenty as well. The real problem with upgrading game systems is that they're highly properietary. For the most part, upgrading them with generic parts is impossible. Installing a mod chip is arguably a tort in the US, under the DMCA. However, no company would sue an individual for modding a system when the costs of such a lawsuit drasticly outweight the potential awards.Originally Posted by Paladin_Hammer

...or not. Anyway, I've always been a PC monkey at heart (been playing PC games since the C64 days.) Currently the XBox has about... oh, four games that I'm interested in playing, making it not a worthwhile investment in my book. PS2 and Gamecube have a far better record, but still not enough to justify shelling out for the system. My PC, by contrast, currently has a library of over 100 titles, with more promising entries on the horizon. (Christmas can't come soon enough, folks...) That doesn't take into account piles of emulated titles, including NES, SNES, N64, SMS, Genesis, Sega CD, MSX, PC-98, GBA, Neo-Geo, and PSX games - and it's only a matter of time before the next generation of consoles joins their ranks. I bought this system 3 years ago and it runs even the latest titles perfectly. Oh, and it's virus-free.
I suppose I could just be poisoned against the XBox - seeing the PC versions for Deus Ex 2 and Thief 3, two games I'd been eagerly awaiting, get nerfed because the Brick couldn't handle what the developers wanted (and god forbid that a PC game be better than an XBox one) made me rather... angry. But it still doesn't change the fact that there's not much on the consoles that I want to play - and a number of the games I do want to play have PC releases in any case.
Last I checked, you couldn't mod your console games or make extra levels for them, either. (I could be wrong on this, since the last time I checked was a couple of months ago.)
You can make some extra levels for console games.... I don't remember which one, but I remember one game with a campaign editor, even though almost all war PC games have level editors.Originally Posted by rubberchicken

It's split when it comes to gaming because you can Emulate through your consoles yet you need a PC to burn/ download the games they both go hand in hand.
Yes you can change your X-Box in to a Computer that runs Linux if you want.Originally Posted by Ultimate X
Yes... X-Box can emulate PS1 and N64, Both are of the last Generation.
No.. duh...? Does it matter that much, their is usualy not a siginificant length of time between the release on PC, and the release on Console.
Of course none of this has anything to do with why im a console guy.... i just though i should answer your questions.
one last question. Does an Xbox fucking count? As its just a crippled pc anyways.Originally Posted by GundamGuy

Now we know how viral bunny signatures really spread.
Well i think we r getting a little overrun here.....Lets think it this way!!If there were not console freaks like us pc guys would never had the opportunity to play on emulators these icredible games released only for consoles, right???Also if there were not pc freaks around the corner all those beautifull mmoprg and doom style games would never reach the surface!!Sowhy bother trying to see which is best???Each has its unique abilities and whether someone prefer one from another is a personal choise

An X-BoX is a Console.
Farther more,
The PS2 can play PS1 games, or the last generation,
And if you have the Hard Drive, can be made to run Linux.
