Bah, snipers are pussies. I prefer medium-close gunfights and shit... you gotta have big balls to face enemy fire from so close. Sorry, couldn't keep reading by time I got to this. In the Vietnam Conflict, we didn't bomb them half the time, because there were civilians near by. And I don't know of any attack on American soils (In war, not counting terrorists) ever. Of course I am no history major, but I do know that Americans generally don't attack civilians. (of course they did with the A-bomb.

By the way, my Great Uncle was on the plane that dropped the bomb.

Exactly, and since when is destroying an entire city unacceptable? It's been going on for thousands of years in warfare, back into ancient times armies would burn cities to the ground...So now when the US does it then it's wrong? It stopped the war, Japan surrendered and now here we are.

So by your logic the Lives of a few thousand US Soilders, who are prepared to die honorably, for the US, are of Greater value then those of a Few Hundred thousand Japanese Civilians...

Some how the numbers dont add up... We should not have killed Civilians, Had we bombed a military base, that would be diffrent... but a City... that's just wrong.

I think that one Civilian life is greater then all lives of all the Soilders lives.

No no no. You see, bombers, they didn't discriminate to much when bombing Japan. In WWII, they had no 'smart bombs'. The plan for an invasion of Japan owuld have involved a VERY heavy bombing campaign. Then you have Japanese soldiers hiding out in civilians housings, or commerical buildings. Millions of troops, and civies would have died. Tanks would have to shoot it out in neighbor hoods.

Another thing which makes the bomb more sensible, ALL japanese at the time were subjects of an Emperor, who's policy regarding invasion would turn the civies into milita. You see, to be loyal to their emperor, they (the Japanese) would have given their lives to defend him. So We'd have killed them either way. The bomb at least saved the lives of ALL japanese not in Hiroshima or Nagasaki. Word.

But the way I see it, is that the A-Bomb was made, and they had to test it, is there really anywhere in the world the can test an A-Bomb without it doing harm?
I think not, if they don't test it, how do they know if it will work?

Also if they don't build the damn thing someone else will, and that someone will no doubt not give a fuck where they test the bomb..
