Dude, we're talking about lower-to-middle class people during the 1940/50s... It's not like they had CNN and commercial airlines at their disposal... Even if they did, I doubt the japanese government would allow such propaganda to reach its people, letting them know they were losing the war and had to flee to safety...if their people didnt want to be in the war they could of moved its not like they were forced to stay there.
