Default I am going to buy a mod-chip

The end of the month is approaching and so is my allowance. I will be able to buy a modchip for the ps2 and a ps2. Basically, I want to know all there is to know about mod-chips. Whats the best one at a decent price? And I found one called Apollo 7 which looked sort of promising. But I cant make heads or tails of the instructions. Also, what is the best place to buy chips? Pacificmods.com is out of the question because the area I live can't access it to place the order.

Thank you very much in advance. You can also be sure reputation will be handed out over this.

The Matrix Infinity chip is the best IMHO.
It's like DMS3 (a great chip) only it boots games automatically...
With DMS3 you have to press and hold a button for booting up PS1 games, another for booting up PS2 games, etc...
MI is pretty new, though, which means it could cost a bit more than DMS3.
Though, if you don't mind pressing and holding a button to boot games up, you might as well go with DMS3, as it's just as good as MI and probably cheaper, too...

If you have never soldered before, send you PS2 out to someone. From what i hear, the PS2 is the hardest of all moddable consoles to complete successfully. i too am interested in a PS2 modchip, but im just going to buy a whole new system.

Hm. In that case, I should go with Swap Magic/Slide card combo. Good choice? (BTW: I dont mind swapping or anything. Adds to the fun )

I got a Slide Card, it works like a charm, but you have to remove the front part of your PS2 CD Tray so the Slide card will work!

yea man, i want a modchip too, but my ps2 doenst read games on horrizantly anymore, you have to place it vertically, so would removing the top and stuff work? or should i contact sony for a repair? also, if anyone can give me sony's phone number for repair questions (pm or posted here) i would think its cool, plus, i would be on my way to being able to play the tons of burned psx games i have, and start playing burned ps2 games! that would be SO cool!
