Right now though, the CPUs and system architecture themselves are limiting the performance of graphics cards.

[QUOTE=Borman]Make sure your new MB supports PCI express too[/QUOTE
Well i guess its going to since I ordered it yesterday straight from the company.
That being the whole point of PCI Express. PCI Express has enough bandwidth to run 2 video cards at the same time. Hence Nvidia's SLI mode (remember Voodoo 2 anyone?), of course finding a motherboard with 2 pci express slots is a bit hard but it can be done.
Here guys, I've done a lot of research with PCI-E.
Here's the thing that nobody has directly answered to.
PCI-E will be much faster than AGP 8x, however, it IS expected to be buggy for the first year. Also, for now, the only processor that supports it is Intel. AMD is getting in next month; however, it will be equivalent to the Intel when it comes to motherboard preformance.
As of right now, there really is no difference between PCI-E and AGP graphics-wise. In fact, AGP still is better. And it's expected to be one or two steps above for a little more, but PCI-E will dramatically get more expensive.
No, PCI-E is not PCI, and there is no motherboard that sells both PCI-E and AGP, period.
I'm going AGP for about a year/year and half before I switch out my motherboard.
Any other questions, go ahead and ask.
Did some researching and i found this in www.evga.com

Now we know how viral bunny signatures really spread.
Im going to be making a new pc soon enough, I was thinking of pcie , is it stable though ? i mean will their be alot of problems or should i wait like another 6 months to see if it gets developed any further ?

1+1 = 2. Just to help you count next time you're thinking about adding another sig image. (Read the rules.)
If you think you can wait that long, I'd wait. Especially since a lot of things are going to be coming out within the next few months (they try to supply the new products around Christmas time in the US).Originally Posted by MastaBait

See? I resumed what EGGO said just a couple posts ago. EGGO and I were right, the rest was wrong. No significant boost. To this, I say:
pwned.
I said there was no boost in modern games too ><
I didnt want to wait, and built a computer. Dont wait for PCI-E. Thats my recommendation
I was the first to say it. Now stop, I win. j/k
i don't see why they called pcie pci anything. it follows a radically diferrevt design stragegy than has ever been used before and has NOTHING to do with pci. btw, personally i think that these early bugs are going to seriously damage pcie. i'll bet it flops like eisa or mca. (the first two attempts at a 32-bit system bus for pcs, which influenced pci, but didn't really do well on their own) also, pcie is supposedly going to replace pci and isa slots too, not just agp.
It's being pushed kind of hard, so I doubt it will fail.
