having trouble
whenever i try to play epsxe with sound it comes up with an error, am i doing something wrong?

What plugin are you using?
-
-
i am using petes d3d driver 1.75

Petes d3d driver 1.75 is a video driver not a sound driver.. When you run epsxe click the config tab and then click sound..If you have sound drivers in your plugins folder youll see a list of sound plugins.. Try Pete's DSound Audio Driver 1.15.. Hopefully you have the playstation bios (scph1000.bin) cause if you dont have that you cant run the emulator. Try to look for the bios in a search engine if you dont have it. Youll also need a cdrom driver to play the psx cds unless you have an iso of a game.
Petes d3d driver 1.75
Pete's DSound Audio Driver 1.15
Pete's CDR ASPI/IOCTL Driver 1.11
Once you have thoses plugins, configure them so your pc can play the games correctly.

ePSXe also has its own internal sound plugin, which is decent, and doesn't need to be configured.

If an error comes up then note the error down and post it... it kinda helps with diagnostics (common sense too).
-
-
it says error cant open sound handler
-
-
Click "Config->sound" then in there, uncheck all the boxes. Those can sometimes cause problems.

but i still have no sound then

You could also try:
P.E.Op.S. PSX SPU DSound driver v1.8
You can get it at Pete's Domain: http://www.pbernert.com/
The P.E.Op.S. drivers are the only ones I use and they all work perfectly with just a wee bit of configuration.
It all depends on what kind of hardware you got.

Also try clicking on "Config" then "Sound". Make sure the correct sound plug-in is highlighted on the CONFIG SOUND window and make sure that "Enable Sound", "Enable CDDA", and "Enable XA sound" are checkmarked. Now click on "Configure" and under "XA music" checkmark these options:
Enable XA playing
Change XA speed
and under "Misc" checkmark:
SPU IRQ - wait for CPU action
Hope that helps some.
Also, your best bet on a BIOS is the scph7502.bin file, in my opinion.
