You need a graphics card that supports pixel shading.. If you have an agp slot on your motherboard get a video card with pixel shading and it might work for you. If that computer has built in video then its not going to work and crash on you. Im guessing you have built in video or a card that doesnt support pixel shading. Hopefully a 2000+ will be fast enough to run it maybe im not sure.

well, I take that back...I don't think it's terrible but a lot of the graphics on the games don't work. Another thing that bothers me is in the BIOS when you first start it, all the menus are see-through...I can't set the time or change the language...another thing, where can I get a memory card file so I can save games just in case lolz?

Yeah, the menu is screwy. It looks like Chankast can't do some transparency effects well, as this happens in other games.

You can set the time however, but it's useless to do, as it gets reset everytime.

You have to go into the memory card screen and format them before you can use them.

There is a way to get the time to stay, I believe you have to set the time, then write protect the file generated vms.bin, I think.

are there any planhs to make later versions of chankast work on PCs without pixel shaders. as i recall, the DC doesn't have 'em, so i see no reason for them to be required for emulation. oh well, maybe comaptability will be about at epsxe levels by the time a get a better pc. also does anybody know if their are plans for chankast to emulate the naomi arcade architecture, since it was literally just the arcde version of the dreamcast?

Actually I was mistaken, this release doesn't require a pixel shader capable card. It does however require something that isn't totally shit

Also, regardless of whether the actual machine used Pixel Shaders, some graphics authors like to use the flexibility provided by them to emulate the combiners of the machine they are emulating.

Case in point Direct64 which can use up to Pixel Shader 2.0 in order to accurately emulate the combiner.

    /Edit

As for Naomi, it is the same as the DC just with double the amount of ram.

No plans known as of yet to emulate it - indeed MAME authors have stated they have no intention nor desire to add it yet.

According to Ector, there are 2 versions of Naomi out, the 2nd using a T&L Co-processor (and nothing is known about it) so that could be a bitch

For the people who don't know yet, Chankast will only boot self bootable images on your harddrive so anything require a boot disc to boot will not run in Chankast.
Also I head some news that there will be a new release of Chankast soon and lots of bugs will be fixed.

    They are hot, aren't they??

    Yep new version coming soon:

    More speed
Shenmue 1, 2 and Passport? support - though not 100%

    Increased compatibility

Many many crashes and freezes fixed

I think support for Boot Disks may be included soon too

From what I hear, a new version should be released sometime next week.

There was a fix on dcemulation.com so you could run non-selfboot games i believe
