That is the Blaster Virus. There is a patch available from Microsoft.

Its either the Blaster Worm, or its the W32.Sasser.D Worm. Just update your OS and AV, you'll be right.

When it does that shutdown thing, does it say "***********************/lsass.exe?
If so, you have sasser worm. My friend just got over the bastard. Nice fix at MS.com

That barstard virus brought the entire school network down to it knees. It was so funny to watch all the juniors start their work, and have this little message telling them their computer is about to shut down. A couple of them broke down after i told them they had broken the computer, and that it probably will never work ever again.

You'd have to blame the network admin for that - I mean do none of the computers have a firewall? yikes

Anyways just enable a firewall and download the patches as stated.

If you did get the shutdown message whilst downloading/installing the patches just:

    Start>Cmd>Shutdown -a

My friend had it and it simulated Blaster Worm exactly (except what the message said) It gave him one minute. Gracious piece of malicious software, it is.

I am behind a router, and I usually keep a firewall turned on. I also update Windows occasionaly. I have never gotten any of these viruses. *knock on wood*

www.microsoft.com I think, since I read one of the guys saying ms.com had a fix for it and I am assuming that ms is short for microsoft in this case.

    www.microsoft.com/windowsupdate

Go there. You have to be using IE when you do, but this will see what updates you need. Then you can install them accordingly.
