    Default Guns 'n' stuff

Hey their everyone, i was just wondering if anyone on this forum actually had a gun and what peoples views are on them. Over here in the UK guns have been made illegal (except for little BB guns that the pre-schoolers have) which i think is a stupid idea and it should be just like in america where you can walk into wal-mart and buy them (by the way do you have to have any form of a licence in america or is it just a straightforward prove your age and thats enough?). I believe this because if everyone has a gun then everyone feels much more equal and you are less likely to get attacked as people know that they will just get shot, also if anyone that lives in the UK has a gun (non BB ) do you think that you could tell me where ya got it? obviously this would just be for educational purposes!!!

I believe you need a liscence in the U.S., but getting one is not all that much of a hassle. Buying illegal weapons is also very easy in the U.S. Just watch Bowling for Colombine to see what I mean.
In Spain, you need a liscence for hunting weapons(mainly shotguns and crossbows, or some low-ass caliber rifle). I don't think that weapons are allowed in my country for personal defense, only for hunting as far as I know.
Firearms should be banned, as it would reduce crimes by a great deal. Although I'm very fond of weaponry(and I know a great deal on a variety of firearms), I don't think they should be in the reach of any civilian(except in the case of a national revolution or something ).

Why the fuck would anyone want a gun? You're a fucking retard mate. Compare the statistics of gun crime in America to the gun crime everywhere else. Exactly.

Two words, family protection. Some guy breaks into your property you shoot him in the leg, end of problem. Thats the only thing that concerns me, if someone did attack me, break into my house etc then id have no way of defending myself, gun seems like the obvious option

If some guy breaks into your property and you shoot him in the leg, you're put in jail. Same goes for using a knife unless you can outrightly prove that it was self defence.

Some people just don't understand the severity of pulling a trigger on another person. Must be all those video games and movies. If you've ever fired a real weapon before at something like a watermelon, you'll think twice before picking up something as dangerous as a gun. If you ever get to pick up a gun and squeeze off a few rounds you'll understand just how powerful that little device is. It makes it way too easy to kill someone... sometimes I wish we were still stuck using swords n' shit. Seriously now, there's no need for a firearm to protect your home. Someone breaks in? Go grab a bat or some long club-like object. That should be sufficient if the thief is not armed with a gun, which if he had one he'd rather be robbing a bank or a store.

I think if you pull the trigger they can make bad people go away. But seriosly I think that everyone has the right to have guns. Guns are one of the only ways to defend yourself against an intruder.

thats why i love being a texan. you know where you stand. every other fucker on the street could be packing, and you'd never know. plus you -can- shoot someone in your house, and anything you do within 30 seconds of waking up (ie, you kill someone) is excusable. you only need to show proof of age, and sign a paper saying you're not a felon or anything, and youre good. its 18 for rifles, and 21 for handguns, and you cant buy the weapon & the ammo at the same time (somehting about walking around the store with a potentially loaded weapon...) at least thats the way walmart does things. and my pride & joy is my wwII-issue german mauser 98. sits right inside my bedroom door, next to my broadsword, which just so happens to be a -very- good way to defend your home. like the lady who was in a historical re-enactment group, always slept with a mace by her bed. some guy broke in, they fought, he was dead before he hit the ground. was one of them little old ladys you never expect to hurt anyone, hehehehe. seriously, youre breaking into someones house, you come face-to-face with 3 feet of razor-sharp steel, and your little pistol is on the back of your pants.... who do you think's gonna win? plus you wont wake your wife

Uhm you realise that the United States' deaths by being murdered with a fire arm is now pushing 12 thousand people? In Canada it's almost 130, even less in in europeon contries and only about 32 gun deaths per year in Japan. You should watch the Michael Moore film Bowling for Columbine.

(Changed my Canada figure, decided to research and found out that the figure was much lower then 400, it's only 130)

Er.. no it's not.. theres lots more ways including panic rooms, blunt objects, security systems, guard dogs, knives etc... guns are too final, hence my above figures. The American gun death rate per year just destroys any other countries number per capita and in sheer volume. I really suggest you see that film, in an attempt to change your views.

    Amendment II

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

    At least in the US.

I remember this quote greatly "Only a fool trusts his life to a weapon."
Seeing how guns have been banned in the UK I am guessing that the robber wouldn't have a gun either, so just use another thing to defend yourself and if you seriously need a gun to defend yourself you are quite the weak person for someone who is trying to act strong infront of his family.

I don't want a ban on guns. I dont' hunt, but I use them for recreational purposes. Clay Pigeons, cans, some hunting, etc. I have 4 guns in my house. 2 shotguns, 22 rifle, and a BB gun. Compared to most people around here we have very few guns. There is only a handful of houses around here without guns. Most of the population goes deer hunting (Sprung would like that). Deer meat is really good. They also go dove hunting. There are also several gun clubs in the area that have clay pigeon shooting contests. There is almost no gun crime here. I can only think of a small handful of gun crimes in my area.

In australia, they have outrightly banned all firearm of all kinds, unless you can get a licence, which only people out on the farms and such have a chance of getting. Problem is that no matter how hard the government has tried, there are still shootings in Sydney, mainly street gangs, and the Mafia and the like. I like to think of it like GTA 3. Point is that firearms can be as illegal as they want, but someone is always gonna have one of them. Roll a security guard, free pistol. Rob a farm, get a shotgun. There is always gonna be a problem. I have been shot at, and it isn't funny. Its not cool to be on the receiving end. I guess it is better to give then to receive. I was lucky that the guy that was firing was a pussy, or was a really bad shot. He was later taken to jail for attempted murder. I hope that guy dies in jail, with an arsehole the size of Texas...guns aren't fun. If everyone knew the power of a firearm, then you would understand what the problem is with them. even a small pistol can reduce a watermelon to mush in a couple of shots. It is really scary stuff. Well, thats my rant, i think ive made my point clear...

:edit: We do have a gun, just for the record, but it has been disabled. We keep it for saftey. You don't actually have to pull the trigger to get someone to piss off, you just have to have the thing. :/edit:

Yeah i live in Texas to but on topic Acually if a perosn or intruder walks into your house u ahve the right to do whatever u want to them say a intruder enters your house u ahve the right in america to blash his ass. in fact theere was something on the new today where this man broke in to a hosue and the parents were asleep and the 7 year old shot his ass. All tho minors arent allowed to posses guns say a person robs a abnk or whatever and a minor has a gun he is alllowed to shoot that person b/c he is saving other ppl from danger and 9 times out of 10 the police or judge will thank the kid and just tell him to get rid of the gun doesnt mean thta he nescailly will tho
