The GBA games are nowhere NEAR the level of greatness Super Metroid accomplished, f00! Good games, yes... Bue not as good...

Everyone, say it with me now: pwned!
Again, if you actually did read the interview at IGN, Sakamoto was some sort of producer in Prime. He looked over the progress and made sure that it kept the Metroid feel. He was though, the director of Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion and Metroid: Zero Mission. So hah again.

I hate to say it, but a Metroid movie is pretty obviously gonna suck balls. In my opinion, they've yet to make a decent movie out of any game, and I doubt they ever will. Yes, Resident Evil was OK, but let's be honest here. Nobody would give a crap about it if the game didn't exist, and it was just released as a regular movie. It was good for a movie based on a video game, but considering the competition, it's hardly high praise...

How the hell do you want me to read it when you don't even provide me a link!?!

OK, so Sakamoto ensured the games would maintain the feel of the Metroid franchise -- again, conceived by Gunpei Yokoi and evolved in Super Metroid -- but that seems to be pretty much it... The GBA Metroid games were adequate, nothing much of an evolution there, eh...?

Retro did all the dirty work for Prime, Miyamoto supervised it (probably along with Sakamoto, as you have so eloquently stated)... I guess you could say Miyamoto WANTED to maintain that sense of evolution Gunpei Yokoi infused in the previous game, though I don't see any of this in Fusion NOR Zero Mission...

    Your call...

    Yet again: pwned!!

Meh, I guess it could be ok... With Mr. Woo at the helm, I hope it would use more elements from his earlier Hong Kong films like Hard Boiled (awesome amount of carnage and innocent bloodshed). Fused with the whole Alien-inspired ideas...it may work...

But there's more chance of what Cosmic said happening - that it will most likely suck big floppy donkey dick.

I thought it was easy to find stuff at IGN. :rolleyes.

Anyways, with Fusion, they tried something new. They tried to fuse a Metroid game with story. And I say, that it went really well actually. The Metroid atmosphere is there. You just have to realise that. And Zero Mission was cool as hell. Very similiar to Super Metroid in many ways.
Oh and since when did we speak about evolution? The Metroid games has been the same since the first one. Only some small stuff has been tweaked in each game.

    Bla bla bla bla.

Everyone just "assumes" that Metroid Movie will suck, but we wont know untill it is made now do we?

Mr.Woo might do an excellent job at doing it!

Speaking of Mr.Woo, (I know he did MI:2) but what other movies did he do? I am unfamiliar.

    Well, blah!

Well, I'm assuming the movie WILL suck IF John Woo gets to do it...

I dont even know what Woo has done. Please, fill me in.

[edit] Maybe a mod should take out the "just like you Spyderbyte" out of the poll. Cuz if someone wants to vote that they think Metroid sucks, they have to flame me, and that might tear them up inside......

well i like your optimism on this doomed subject spyderbyte. and i'm at the same time dissappointed in you. why would you aloow them to cast a guy as samus. that is about as bad as making a zelda movie and actually confusing zelda with link and casting him as a female, simply because that is the name of the game.
ps. john woo. hmmm. didn't he do that chow yun fat movie a few years ago called the replacement killers?

I didnt say I WANTED them to cast a man! I was just saying, if they did the whole movie without you ever seeing her out of her suit, they really wouldnt need a female actor to do all the stunts and walking around. I would actually have a femal cast as Samus, and I would not like it any other way!

    Sorry if you misunderstood me....

and it is you who misunderstood me. i didn't say you wanted them too, i said you would allow them to. and that is just as bad. they are gonna try to make some odd story out of it and turn it into a hot steaming pile of turtle shit anyway. might as well get teh character right.

John Woo did Face/Off and a holw lot of awesome Hong-Kong action before he sold out to Hollywood.
If it's John Woo, and he has Samus with double handguns (he has a thing with a person with two handguns kicking an enormous amount of ass in most movies) it will 0wn, even if there is not story.

oops, sorry mate! Tis all jus a big musunderstandin' day!
Well, I would'nt want any man behind Samus' visor, but if they did do that for some reason, it would suck, but I would still go see it. I just hope that Mr.Woo knows what Metroid is!

And If I was in charge of casting teh movie, I would "NOT" allow a man to play Samus! No way!

What's so extremely horrible about a guy playing Samus, if you're not going to see him/her outside the suit, anyway? Sure, it IS supposed to be a girl, but it doesn't really matter, does it?
