Default EPSXE 1.6.0 Save State Errors

I played chrono cross on EPSXE 1.6.0 and everything was peachy. I used memory cards and save states. I got up to disc 2 and then I decided to reformat my hard drive. So, I backed up everything, saves included, and now my save states won't work any longer after I reinstalled everything, same plugins and everything. The emulator crashes, and when selecting the state in the emu, it shows static instead of the picture. I also tried older versions of epsxe and to no avail. It seems to be fate that I never beat the game since this is the third time something has happened when trying to beat the game Any help would be appreciated

I did a little, and I mean little, research on the issue I asked about, and I guess I am screwed. I would like to know how and why it happened tho. At the very least, it would be nice if someone could send me a save, or save state from late disc 1 or early disc 2 for chrono cross. I'd really hate to start the game again from scratch.

If u saved the game by using the save game feature in the game it should work if u transfer the epsxe000.mcr or epsxe001.mcr from one computer to another. The savestates from ePSXe I know u can lose but the CC save feature should work still. I transfer those file from my laptop to my desktop all the time and play from a save-point. I've done it with CC, FF9, and FF8...all worked fine...

You sure u saved it ingame and not just relied on the save states?

Yep, I saved in game as well. Albeit not as often, but I still made a point to doing it periodically as a back-up option. I tried using some memory tools such as psxmem tool and moo's tool, but they don't do anything, and in fact they only seemed to have corrupted my new saves on the memory card. Another interesting thing is that my harvest moon btn save states show up, but when I load them, I get an opcode error. Any idea on what that means? Thanks

I have absolutely no idea what's going on here, but I can tell you State Save and memcard files work no matter what plugins you use... You can switch and nothing will happen... There may be some issues when going from a newer to older version of ePSXe, but I don't think this is the case...

How did you back them up...? Did you burn them to a CD...? It's possible they got corrupted, 'cause I don't see any other reason for them to stop working... Unless a file or .DLL used by ePSXe got busted... Why don't you try redownloading ePSXe and reinstall..?

From what I have read so far at various sites, apparently save states aren't 100% reliable. I don't understand why the mem cards don't work properly though. Since I am out of options, I will take your advice Rucharly, and download epsxe 1.6.0 and 1.5.2 again.

The Epsxe site is down for some reason I am unaware of. Anyone know of any sites that host epsxe 1.5.2? Since 1.6.0 doesn't work very well with Chrono Cross.

Reinstalling epsxe 1.6.0 didn't fix the problem.

    Here try this website:

    http://www.ngemu.com/

they should have ePSXe for d/l...also i directly just copy my memory card from v1.6 to v1.52 and it works fine...the saves states as u mentioned aren't 100% reliable...but if u saved ingame it should be fine...so I'm not really sure why it happened to u ><

If you burned them to CD there is the slightest possibility that it was a bad burn and you didn't notice it. There is always a slight chance of that happening. It has happened to me.

Also, Please use the edit button next on your post instead of posting a new post.

Everytime I edit my previous posts, no one pays attention to the new details, and from some of your previous posts I have seen, knowitman, you do the same thing.

I haven't double posted unless I need to attach a file which you can't do when you edit a post. I only did that like twice.

I don't think it really matters anyway, double posting, I am not intentionally bumping my threads, simply making a quick reply. Is it lazy? Yes. Do I care that it bothers very few people? No.

I'm just saying you will care if any mods see it.

Well, to be honest, if an anal mod is going to bother me about a couple double posts then I don't really need to waste my time at the emuparadise boards Thanks for looking out for me though
