Crappiest dialogue? I disagree. Both David Hayter and Quinton Flynn made a wonderful job. David Hayter is easily one of the best voice actors ever. In my opinion, only Soul Reaver can beat Metal Gear when it comes to voice acting.

Crushy baby, I don't think he meant "voice acting", I think he meant "dialogue", as in the "writer's words"...

Again, I love MGS as a whole... I can say I played the game at least three times straight when I first put my grubby hands on it (Beat it on hard the first time around, then EXTREME for the bad ending, then EXTREME again for the good ending...). Everything was just so compelling about that game!

It was probably the hype MGS2 got that put my hopes too high for it... Sure, it took more time to complete than the first game, gameplay was further developed (which was pretty much a necessity, given the time they took to develop), graphics were on par with what everyone expected, but the story was just plain horrible...I didn't get ONE BIT of what was happening, even at the end. It seemed like they just kept throwing bits and pieces at random...

Again, I didn't mind that much not being able to play as Snake all the way trough, but I didn't see that much character development on Snake's part, as someone suggested Kojima said...

In my opinion, Snake had a pretty solid (...) role in the first game as it was, he was THE central character, and one of the most compelling ones in the game. Even in MGS Ghost Babel, he was a very powerful character (and that's saying a lot about a "little" GBC game). I see no reason to "take him off" just to emphasise his role... It's just ridiculous...

Plus, another thing I think no one's mentioned: Maybe it's just me, but the boss characters in the second game were nowhere NEAR as cool as the ones from MGS! Revolver Ocelot, Vulcan Raven, Psycho Mantis, Sniper Wolf, Liquid Snake on his Hind-D, the Metal Gear REX!!

The boss characters from MGS2 are just cheap, tiresome and, sometimes, predictable (tell me you didn't SUSPECT Fortune didn't have some kind of Force Field device...?).

    Fatman: Boring as hell...
Harrier: Pretty cheap and about the same as MGS's Hind-D battle.
    Vamp: Again, cheap... And boring...
MG RAY: A complete sissy... (They expected THIS THING would take out REX? ). The battle takes just too long, and the boss(es) have a pretty dull pattern...
Solidus: He strangled me about ten times, then, somehow, I passed... I believe the game took into account my button mashing was futile... The final battle was somewhat fun, though...

I believe the only one worth mentioning is Olga... It reminded me a lot of Ocelot's battle... It was fun.

Take into account I only played the game on HARD... The bosses from MGS were fun and chellenging, no matter what the difficulty setting was...

Oh eh, guess I missunderstood him then. But still, I don't think the dialogues are that bad.

And Ru, don't diss Metal Gear RAY or I'll show you why I'm called crusher. But you know you never fight against the real RAY. Only the mass-produced light versions. And the fight is awesome.

True, there's a certain charm to it, but the fight is waaay too long and, I don't know what difficulty you had it on, but on HARD if you missed a pattern, you'd regret it...

Thankfully, ammo and rations regenerate every once in a while, but still... The fight against REX was ber cool!

One more thing that makes MGS superior to MGS2: There are no bisexual colonels in MGS...

Crusher, you forgot the most sacred rule!!

Thou shalt never play a Metal Gear game on the lowest difficulty from the first run!

Playing for the first time without radar on MGS was total paranoia!!

It's been a while, but I think MGS2 does have a radar even on the highest setting, doesn't it?

And don't make up difficulty levels... Just because you're european doesn't make you cooler than I (NOTE: I'm well aware you might be telling the truth about an EUROPEAN EXTREME difficulty, but I'm not quite sure)...

    I said COLONELS, not CLONES!
Didn't you pay attention to the game? Vamp is a bisexual and supposedly, he sustained love affairs with both Fortune AND his father (sick!! ), who is the commander of the Marines (the black guy from the tanker... I think he gets killed, doesn't he? Don't quite remember...

Yes, what I meant was the dialogue, I've got no complaints on the voice acting whatsoever. Even though it feels sometimes as Konami and Hayter are overdoing the whole "damn cool Solid Snake with his macho voice" at times. He were more balanced in the first.

And of course Raiden never had what it takes to be a main character, I'm not saying this as a Solid Snake fanboy, but seriously. The character designer even said in an interview that HE tried to make HIM as SEXY as possible... Geez.

And one more thing... Fission Mailed.

I didn't play it on easy nor very easy, my first run. I played those difficulty levels just so I could collect all the dog tags.

And are you trying to state that I'm lying? Argh! The SHOCK! How can you even try to say something like that! You are crushing this poor soul!
But you know, I DID beat it on EU Extreme. And it was a pain in the ass. Not a single ration to use at all. The part were Snake and Raiden cooperate in Arsenal was a real pain in the ass...
