Currently im reading Peirs Anthony's Xone of Contention which is one of his Xanth novels. I love them, because they are a lighter read that most books I read, and sometimes thats just something you need.

I also just finished reading R.A Salvadore's The Halflings Gem which is the third book in his Icewind Dale trilogy. I love these as they are placed in my favourite DnD campaign setting, The Forgotten Realms. Not to mention the coolest of cool main characters, Drizzt Do'Urden.

I am reading Closing Time by Joseph Heller. While it is the sequel to the critially acclaimed Catch-22, it is not a patch on the original.

I've read Catcher In The Rye by JD Salinger. That's a pretty good book, save for the last few chapters, and the fact that the main character, Holden is manic depressant. I've also been reading Stephen King's "The Stand" on and off, and I just finished the Sparknotes to Prayer For Owen Meany. It sounds like a good book, but i wasn't aware that it was summer reading for honors english and there was an essay due on it today . I managed to pull one out of my ass though

What's wrong with manic depressives then?

I'm simultaneously reading Sourcery, Wyrd Sisters, Maskerade, Guards! Guards!, Reaper Man, The Last Hero and The Wee Free Men, all by Terry Pratchett. At least I finished Interesting Times. I'm also in Act III of Discworld for the playstation. Now I'm occasionally glancing at The Truth, Moving Pictures, The Last Continent and Men At Arms, as they look seductive, perched on my shelves... but I digress. I should get a bookmark or something.

This, all as a result of trying to decide what the best novel would be to introduce a newcomer to the Discworld series reigniting my interest. And now I'm playing with ebay in order to import Discworld II. Oh dear.

    *glances at Magus's list*

Go to the political thread in retro...

nothing's wrong, it's just that at a point in the book everything he sees depresses him, and it becomes irritating, that's all

THere you go. If you can't find it at the library you can read it online. Now you have no excuses. And not to get too off topic

    I didn't like The Outsiders.

Currently, I'm reading The Demon Awakens by RA Salvatore. Very good novel, I think, although it's nothing epic. Most of it has been done before, but this fashion is just something that I love. RA Salvatore has a certain style that mesmerizes me.

I don't know why I didn't like it. By all accounts, it's a good novelle, but it just didn't ring anything important to me. Perhaps it's because I haven't lived in the sort of society where that kind of segregation is noticable, or perhaps because I just haven't taken notice of it, but it seemed too... foreign, I suppose. Which is odd, considering the fact that I prefer to read fantasy novels.
