    Default WW2 (D-Day) Significance

What would you say was significant for the US about WW2?

Depends on what you're trying to ask.

    EDIT- be more specific?

EDIT2- my dog has no nose.

Well I'm asking becuase its for a report and my first grade in the class about 6 things that happend in the US that where significant and I got WW2 and the Civil War out of my group. And I've found all the stuff I need on the Civil War but on WW2 I just have a discription of the war but nothing about how it changed/helped (things like that) for the US.

The only interesting thing I have to say about WW2 is that my Grandfathers were both on differents sides. Sorry that's not really educational but I just think that's sorta different and rather strange.

umm, technological advances of course not to mention a certain bomb...

    ^^^ I don't see how thats strange.

Anyhow, Did second world war helped the US make technilogical advances, boosted it up to a super-power and with some ideas from the enemy, created the Atomic Bomb.
Also, some bankers had made a ton of money negotiating with the Germans and other countries..
Those are the only things I can think of from the top of my head at the moment.. gar.

How ironic that you would make this thread on September 1. It is the 64th anniversary of the beginning of the Polish campaign and the war itself. And today, the second of September, is the 58th anniversary of Japan's surrender on the USS Missouri, which concluded the war.

Wasn't the actual war declared on Sept. 3rd?

Default Relats to my last topic, but need discription

Okay, I've searched around for a good discription about World War 2 but I couldn't find anything, all I kept getting was just a discription of the battles, and I need stuff that would discripe it like (see example)

EXAP: Dog, short, smells, brown, 2 eyes, furry,

you know some thing like that, so I'm asking is there anyone that can give a disent discription about WW2?

(I will greatly reward anyone who can give up to 4 sentaces about it)

    . . .

On september 1st, 1939, Germany invaded Poland. And on September 3 England and France demanded Germany withdraw it's troops. When Germany refused, England and France declared war on Germany. Within a week Great Britian was joined in the war by Canada, Austrailia, New Zealand, the Union of South Africa, and India.

The German tatics worked so well that they advanced across Europe within two years of the start of the war. In July of 1940, Britian refused to surrender to the Nazi's(which suprised the them).
In 1941 the Japanese forced the United States into the war. Thinking that the best way to keep the U.S. out of World War II was to sink their naval fleet. So on December 7th, the Japanese attacked Pearl Habour. Instead of keeping the U.S. out of the war, this attack gave the States reason to enter World war II.

After this the Americans made a come back by helping the Allies to win the war in Europe. After this they concentrated on Japan, and how to respond. By april of 1945, the German-Italian axis powers were defeated or had surrendered.

To end the war for good, the U.S. decided to use the Atom Bomb. On August 6th of 1945, the first Atom Bomb was used in combat. It was dropped on the city of Hiroshima, and three days later, another on Nagasaki.

Finally on August 15, the Japanese formally, and unconditionally surrendered to th United States.
And it was discovered that Winston Churchill was really a pink hippo named frank, but no one really said anything as not to irritate frank.. because frank was a badass, and no one wants to cross paths with an infuriated pink hippo.
