Default LOTR Extended Edition in Theaters!

Ign is reporting (here) that many theaters will be carrying the extended versions of Fellowship and the Two Towers before Return of the King opens. The best part is that in some places you'll be able to watch all three movies back to back in one kick ass marathon! What do you think about this? I'm excited!

Sounds cool! I love the LOTR series I have the books and both movies so now I only have to wait for the 3rd part...but a marathon sounds cool ...but each movie is 3 hours so with other words ..sitting in a theater for 9 hours is not just so easy I think

I didnt care much for the Extended version of Fellowship of the Ring..
It messed up some parts and was kinda slow.. (in the extended parts) glad they went with the regualr versioN!
It would be cool if they had a cinema day with all of the movies, now if theres like an hour break between them.. I`d like to trY!

I`ll be sticking with the normal versionS!! I dont want to read the book of LOTR (just wanna get the movie experience)
I`ve read The Hobbit and gonna start with The Silmarillion when I got the timE!

I don't know about the others but the extension of the Fellowship is just under 4 hours, i have the box set thing.

Can anybody tell me what bits were left out of the normal version? Just want to see if it really makes much difference.

Each film clocks in at about three and a half hours with the extended versions, so the marathon will swallow about 10 hours of your day should you elect to participate in it, not counting intermissions. I'd expect it to run a good 11 hours or more all told, which as much as I love The Lord of the Rings movies, would be pretty hard to sit through...
