About the guy in the green rags and the caves which is a red head, it sounds a lot like Terranigma... Isn't it?

i think the game with the green cape and stuff is lagoon. in terranigma you don't have rags or a cape... and you go through several caves...

I too have a game whose name escapes me...

it's an arcade game...from what I remember you chose one of several tank looking robots...you could fire ammo and pick up I think it was shields

the strangest thing was the controls - one lever controlled forward and backward, the other controlled left and right

the camera lowers you quite quickly from a substantial distance above the arena onto the arena and then you start fighting after an announcement

if you lost then it showed your robot tank electrifying and then I forgot what happened

it has no background music and very repetitive noise (too hard to reproduce in text I'm afraid )

also it has a gimmicky battle seat
Edit: As in you physically sat on one in the arcade (no seat visible in the game graphics of course)

there's another robot game but that's not the one I'm talking about - that other one has bright backgrounds and you fight as robots...this one has dark backgrounds and you fight in tank looking robots

this game is quite old...problem was my arcade closed ages ago and I've forgotten the game's name

    anybody know what it is?

The game I'm looking for doesn't have a steering wheel - it's the same looking seating arrangement (if I remember correctly, it's literally been years) but you had two levers instead to control the robot tanks.

    Sorry...
The only game I know with 2 levers (kind of sticks) is Virtual On (a Sega game).
But the way to use those sticks doesn't fit your description, so...

But I still make the wild guess, since sometimes you remember it the wrong way!

k, this wuz another game that 1 of my friends had. it wuz an RPG action/adventure type game 4 PS1. u played as a young boy and if i remember correctly he had blue or purple hair. i also remember there wuz a shopkeeper type person who wuz always coming on 2 u. i also remember there wuz a library and this guy asks if u want 2 read some books. if u say no, u'll say "no, reading sucks". thats all i can remember, so if any1 knows this game please tell me what it is. thanks.

    Could you be more specific?
What kind of weapon did the hero use?

Wild guess (since I only saw pics of the game): is it Brave Fencer Musashiden (a Squaresoft A-RPG)? (the blue/purple hair made me say that).
