Default Hear any Good ROck Music Lately?

I have found recently that there is so much good rock music and so Little time. THe past couple months I have been listnening to some new rock music I have never listened to. And I was amazed at what I was missing out on. Now I'm not really a genre kind of guy I am open to all sorts of rock as long as it sounds good.

SO the basic idea of this thread is to reccomend bands that you have recently heard , or that are somewhat underground and good(That means I dont want to hear why you think Korn or Metalica etc is good we all know of them). So start with a band, describe them and explain why you like them. You then reccomend a song or two that you think can hook people just like the band hooked you. Now this is to be an open minded thread. Just keep an open mind and maybe we'll all find something good we never knew about.

    I will start,

THrice- Many may have heard of these guys, but they are still kind of underground. Thrice impresses me with some of the best guitar work around right now. They also are very talented song writers.

Songs- The Beltsville Crucible, See You in the Shallows

Well seeing as you like Pink Floyd and Thrice, I guess you like prog?

In which case, no explanations, get some Rush, Yes, King Crimson, Camel and old Genesis...

PRog whats that? I listen to rush, genesis and Yes(Occasionally). I personally think Rush is awesome. But some of this newer music like thrice is awesome.

    HEres another Band:

Senses Fail-They have a pretty good sound. THey are fairly new though.

SOngs- Freefall without a Parachute, Handguns and second chances.

Try some of that out its pretty good.

You could not be more right. The Darkness are easily the best band to come out of this country for years, anyone who doesn't take the time to check them out is a fool.

You may have heard of a few of these bands, but they're still well worth listen. There's also a few punk and metal bands in here, but they're all brilliant, whatever your preference of music.
    - Four Star Mary (their songs were used on Buffy quite often, but not many people have heard of them. Try 'Pain')
    - Turbonegro (classic rock, but with make-up... :\ sod the looks, enjoy the music. Check out 'Get It On)
    - Poison The Well (post-hardcore band, listen to 'Botchla)
    - Refused (the most important band since Nirvana. Get 'New Noise' and 'The Shape Of Punk To Come')
    - Hatebreed (4 words: 'I Will Be Heard'
    - HIM (Bam Margera's favourite band. Good songs are 'Beautiful' and 'The Heart Of Darkness')
    - Flogging Molly (Irish punk, try 'Drunken Lullabies'
    - The Distillers (Another brilliant punk band, 'City Of Angels' is good)
    - The Cult (Straight up, no-nonsense rock. Get hold of 'My Bridges Burn')

    That will do for now...

Like Johnny, the bands I list need no explanation. If you are a prog rocker, they should be well known, but for anyone else these are probably unheard of bands, with the exception of KC. I will list my favorite album from each.

Camel - Moon Madness, or Harbour Of Tears
    Cressida - Cressida
King Crimson - Lark' Tongues in Aspic, In the Court of the Crimson King
    Spring - Spring

You're going to have to buy Sing For Absolution by Muse the instant it comes out. I've got 7 tracks or so from it already, and I love them all to bits...

Cause I want it now, I want it now, give me your heart and your soul, I'm breaking down, I'm breaking out, something something... rock on?
