    Default why can't I post?

I'm trying to reply to posts I've made a long time ago with a different account but it won't let me

    I posted on this thread

    https://www.epforums.org/showthread....oldier-Sharaku
    https://www.epforums.org/showthread....ilips-CD-i-ROM

A long time ago I tried to upload a rare Japanese ROM for the CD-i that still hasn't been dumped to this day apart from the link I posted ages.

I posted and uploaded it specifically on this forum to try and preserve this game. And it appears that no-one has downloaded it or backed it up or anything. Now it's lost forever. I do not have the game anymore and the archive of image I have on my hard drive seems to be corrupted.

So good one, so much for being a ROM preservation community. This game is now lost to time.

A whole internet scour for this game only has the content that I posted basically
    https://lostmediawiki.com/Cyber_Sold...re_game;_1993)

A ransomware virus affected my computer the Deja Vu IFLA variant and it took the CD-i image with it. But I had the foresight of uploading it on the internet to a freaking ROM provider website and it was never archived. It should have been downloaded from the file sharing site and put on the main website of Emulator Paradise. I don't understand why it wasn't. Why do some ROMs not get approved to put in with the mainstream ones. For some reason they just left it so that temporary file sharing link was the only source of that ROM. It then expired, apparently no-one downloaded it and so it got lost.

    Well done ROM preservists

I do have a CD backup that I made for playing on a CD-i but when I put it in my modern PC DVD Burner it shows up blank even though I'm positive it's on there. I don't tend to label and keep CD's if burning was unsuccessful plus I remember playing it. I no longer have a CD-i so I got no way to test to see if the image is still on there. CD-R's are temporary media aren't they? So over time it would dissapear right? It's been over 10 years since I made the backup so maybe it's dissapeared

Seemingly abandoned threads, of which there are MANY, are dumped into a trash bin subforum. The threads themselves are preserved, as they may have some value in themselves, but the file links presented in them are dead. If somebody wants the threads revived because they were mistakenly tossed there, they can just ask.

Unlikely. *Somebody* took it and archived it on their PC. Ask for it here:

I'd guess your burnt disc is fine, CDRs don't simply blank themselves, it's just the software you're using to look at it isn't appropriate. I don't recall off the top of my head the appropriate dumping software/methods for the CD-i, but ImgBurn 'just worked' for most things when it was created, and will more likely tell you if your disc is blank than Windows would.

sendspace isn't a great place for "long-term" uploads, but that was circa 2011. cd-i discs are big-endian and not readable by normal pc systems or even cdmage.

try ripping cd as mode2/2352 and reading it with isobuster - it can correctly view my nobelia cd-i game (itch dl). tool has a drive reader option so that might work directly also

edit: try hosting on archive.org, mediafire, mega, no-intro will likely take it, maybe redump, unsure if fbneo does cd-i

edit: people at lolsuite.org discord server might have it; they have access to soulseek, private sharing groups and other murky nether-regions of the web

edit: Ragnar should be right - imgburn likely works as cd-i is a normal disc

Reminder. The Internet Archive isn't a permanent entity that will host content forever. It WILL FAIL at some point, and all content hosted on it will be offline. Backup the game yourselves if y'all care~
