No change for me for another couple months. I did get real answers to my questions. Setup is basically the same and I'll be able to continue using my current router but the provided one is at least bridgeable. The ISP wants people using their router for easy support crap
. The way they were talking I'm hopeful that IP assignment will be the same as well and I'll continue to have a static IP (effectively).
finished penumbra black plague today that was a good game there were some hard spots that made me resort to a guide.
I installed penumbra overture and painkiller I was going to start overture but I needed a little break so I started painkiller that wasn't what I expected it's(so far) a fun arcade fps like serious sam.

Yeah DSL is more stable where I am but the top speed is absolutely pitiful. I've been on the highest tier fixed wireless locally for some time now.
Spoiler warning:
DSL speeds have improved significantly in cities as far as I know but I probably wouldn't have seen such upgrades if DSL was ever available. What I found very annoying was that AT&T advertised for quite some time that DSL as available for my address only to then say otherwise when called. My speed jumps all over the place sometimes, it's been better in recent years. The new top speed will be more than enough for me.

My ISP offers up to 150mbps but I have no interest and wouldn't want to pay the rate.
I wouldn't mind 150mbps, but the fastest I can get in my area is 30mbps, which is what I'm on now. Mt friend who lives in the city has fiber. CenturyLink offers Fiber for $60-$65 where it is available. I think Comcast offers it for a little bit more. Those are the only two major ISPs in my area, besides some other smaller ones.
I have fibre but stick to a 100 mbps package. Almost a 100 bucks a month. I find that speed is just fine. No problems even with 4k streaming from something like say Disney+ whenever I get a free month promotion and so on, other than maybe a quarter second pause probably from some buffering thing but it's rare even while downloading something on another device. No point in getting the full 1 gbps that they offer, kinda overkill.
As Hunter would say "works for me"
