It should be considerably faster but whether or not it's noticeable for most uses, hard to say. It's nice to have for startup/shutdown times but once you boot into the OS a good HDD is still fine enough for most things. I think most people only notice a difference if they're swapping from a piece of garbage 2.5" HDD. You could probably swap in a good HDD and most wouldn't be able to tell unless they heard it spinning up.
