Spoiler warning:
when ever I've been doing alchemy I get this annoying bug where it tells me to type in my name even though the name is typed in and there's more than one ingredient and the effects are displayed.
also I don't like how most magic has a high failure rate(even with a higher skill level)

Enchanted items with constant effect don't fail
I don't recall seeing that alchemy bug on Xbox.

You can enchant yourself but like alchemy there is a success/failure rate.
There are NPC's that can enchant but it's expensive, bonus with that is 100% success rate.
There aren't many trainers for this skill iirc and after checking it seems there's only one master trainer who is by default hostile towards you.

Most people use alchemy to get stats higher for enchanting (people still do this for Skyrim) but I mostly went the enchanting to improve enchanting route myself in Morrowind. Skyrim I did use alchemy as well but it's an easier game.
See the info about creating an "enchanting suit".
Spoiler warning:
Also, as I already said, keep looting everything high value & low weight then sell. Build up loads of cash and pay for the training you want when available.
Spoiler warning:
The hostile master trainer; you can actually get training but there are some steps involved. It's on that page I linked to.
Spoiler warning:
seems like by the time I can enchant things myself it'd be kinda useless but paying for good enchants would be time consuming too.

Yeah I don't recall paying for enchanting much myself, or even buying enchanted weapons much tbh. Loot from exploring usually gets you good stuff, sell what you don't want.
Paying for training is a good way to progress early on though. Leave it too long then most trainers can't train you because of your level and then finding the master trainers is what's left.
Get a dagger with soul trap and always have a few gems on you. Refill enchanted stuff and try enchanting small items, it will fail sometimes but will work sometimes.
After a while you get a routine.
Spoiler warning:
I say soul trap dagger because you can use your main weapons to wear down enemies and then switch to the soul trap dagger for the last few blows.
You get the hang of it after a bit. The ST dagger won't get used as often so it'll recharge.
At the start it might be iron or whatever so weak, but eventually you should be able to use glass etc.
Have another dagger that does good damage so you can build that stat up too.
Spoiler warning:
Without mods this isn't a game you simply play for 20-40 hours
Who would want to anyway? It's awesome.
Spoiler warning:
haven't come across any ST daggers so I might just pay to enchant one. also haven't encountered any empty soul gems I have a couple filled ones already.
hell I spent over 100hrs in oblivion the first time I finished the main quest line. I'm glad there'll be more than 40hrs of gameplay since this version has both expansions.

It should be more than 100 hours. Way more if you do a lot of side quests, different factions and general exploring all the time![]()
Spoiler warning:
Have you got a place to stash loot yet?
Most require you to do a quest line, but it's possible to murder someone and use their house.
There's a trader in Balmora that is a handy place, close to traders and guilds.
