Spoiler warning:
Think I might grab some pirate carts.

Spoiler warning:
There are a few different adapter types you can get from China, they have a chip that uses a brute force technique on the console lockout chip so you don't actually need to butcher your NES. They've been making them for years (I guess the early ones were just copies of the ninty ones) but the more recent ones have a 2017 date on the pcb (which is blue not green). If the cart won't load you keep hitting reset until it does (might take 4-8 tries or so).
Thing is that a lot of pirate carts now in 72 pin format don't have the adapter inside, some still do but only older type multi carts or just copies of old carts. Some newer carts have quite a few good games on them with no repeats...there has been a 143 cart around for a while that is like that. But now I'm looking at a 405 cart which is only missing 2 Star Wars games I want. Well, I want Elite and Swords and Serpents too but the former is unlikely to ever be on a pirate cart and I haven't spotted the latter on one so far. It doesn't have Earthbound either but the 143 has that and both Star Wars games.
I've spent the last week or so reading up on pirates in my spare timeAlso done some reading about noac clones just because I was curious...I may get one and not use my real NES all that much.
Spoiler warning:
The noac I've been looking at closely is the ZOGA top loader. It has NES controller ports, a 72 pin top load slot but has a hidden 60 pin slot inside...72 pin has priority if both slots are filled. So you can basically open it up throw a bare 60 pin multi cart board inside, and still use 72 pin cartsOr run an adapter on top for famicom carts (which are much cheaper to get here than US carts).
Only composite out, but the cheap clones that have hdmi just use crappy upscalers which I have spares and can add myself anyway (if I really feel the need).
Like most of the cheap clones it's probably PAL but even if it is, modding it to NTSC shouldn't be overly difficult. Swap out a crystal plus a little extra work.
Spoiler warning:
Are you going to get a flash cart for your NES?
Nope. Well I can't see myself getting one atm and things are only going to get worse.
There aren't any cheap paypal options, plus it's basically like getting a multi cart but I'd be putting way more money into one cart. If something goes wrong it would be a pain to sort out.
I can buy a lot of stuff for $200+ au.
Spoiler warning:
By things getting worse I mean the government here are pretty likely to bring in like a $5 charge on all overseas purchases below $1k. Amazon are making changes at the start of next month, pushing all au traffic to the pathetic au site...which has far less shit on it then the main one.
Fuck knows if it'll affect the likes of aliexpress etc but I can see some dirt cheap stuff on ebay getting pushed up a little (not everything yet thankfully, still some good deals from China)...it's already started with Japanese sellers from what I can tell anyway. Less stuff and it isn't as cheap. Hell it's hard to see anything from Japan with free postage now and it wasn't like that for years.
Spoiler warning:
Yeah we probably did
Anyway, buying a couple of cheap multi carts is fine by me, I'm looking to spend maybe $50 or so on those and I'll have most good stuff covered. Even FF7 English.
I'll still need to grab Elite at some point but it's very hard to get with a manual for a reasonable price. It's expensive just cart only (PAL A anyway)
Swords and Serpents is cheap cart only, just need to keep an eye out for one with a manual.
Spoiler warning:
Just checked a few ebay NES cart prices...![]()
