Yeah, I was thinking of upgrading, but the prices have skyrocketed for crypto-mining. Probably just better off waiting for a while.

The DRAM companies are price fixing right now as well. I'm hoping new cards will roll around by May or June.

    Simple solution: Don't update.
You're only throwing away money anyway.

Don't buy game consoles, you're only throwing money away.

Game consoles get cheap and then after a while usually increase in value. At least here they do.

PC parts, with only some odd exceptions eg voodoo cards, usually become near worthless. Yes really old PCs can be worth something but it's unusual types for the most part, Amigas and other old systems like that can be worth something.

Ok fine you can spend money on current PC gear and then sell on after a little while but it's a constant battle with variables, it's easier to be upgrading cars than PC gear.
Too much effort for little or no gain. Most people would be losing money constantly.

I have no issue spending money on hardware or software. Buying anything and caring about the long term value just isn't how I operate. I buy hardware because I'm going to use it, and games/movies because I am going to use them.

Video cards go for more than retail anyway.
