Lots of older games with selectable resolution cap out there. There are a few that can go beyond .

Not like even the cheapest of phones etc can't run desktop versions. Every mobile version I've seen is garbage anyways.

I know emus can probably make the PSX version look nicer but I dunno if they can improve draw distance PC version should have that.

Probably, in terms of how colorful etc. I dunno about the res though, think you can only go so far with it to the point it makes no difference or things start breaking up. Doubt anything affects the draw distance but it is very far on the PC. The Playstation one was very close in. Maybe if one could hack the iso - I would imagine it would be set on the disc.

Kay think I'm Dark Souled out for the foreseeable future. Halfway through and level 185 on NG+ with over 100 hours. Phew.

THE BEST METHOD to run PSX games (and everything else for that matter) is via Retroarch - http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/
If you have any questions on how to set it up on Windows please feel free to ask, its very easy.

The textures were pitifully small . You should force anisotropic filtering at x16 whenever you can in older games.
