Around 4GB in extras so that's probably the reason for it being bigger.

Not like the more modern TES games (which aren't very hard) and it isn't first person...yes I know recent TES and Fallout games have switchable perspective but we'll just consider them first person for the time being.

There isn't any difficulty setting, it's basically hard until you learn how to play it correctly.
Maybe slightly more difficult than TES III I guess, but when you learn how to play Demon's Souls correctly it isn't so bad. TES III is only a little difficult at the very start when your stats are low, after playing it for a bit it gets much easier.

TES games before III are probably harder.

Have you played any King's Field or Shadow Tower games? KF series is pretty much the ancestor of Souls series, but KF is first person.
BTW King's Field IV (aka The Ancient City) PS2 is playable on PS3 The earlier PSX games in the series are playable too, you can even use English translations of the Japanese releases.
Shadow Tower Abyss PS2 (English translation) should work too, and Shadow Tower PSX.

These are all Japanese games but western style, pretty much the only sort of jrpg I still like playing tbh

Eh, kinda no. In Tes you just sorta flail around and kill everything in sight and run back and forth doing things. Souls is much more precise and linear and more of a 3rd person action even though you can switch to 3rd in Tes or at least in Skyrim which is really the only one I've played through. I mean sure once your powerful enough you can just plow through low level enemies. You really have to build your character carefully and grind like hell for certain things and learn how to parry and dodge and everything. I won't even get into the world tendency stuff. The game really is tricky especially at first. I dunno it's hard to explain. There are some pretty cool big monsters but it almost feels like a test game for Dark Souls of which I've only played number 2 (And Demons Souls too of course) Like I said it's difficult to explain.

Some of the later bosses and red phantoms can be a real pain in the ass unless your prepared. You def can't just button mash your way through.

sounds rather complicated I don't think I'd do very well with it I might still try it out. I'm having quite a bit of fun with TES 4 just wandering around the forests monster spawns can be annoyingly slow. right now I'm doing a quest I got stuck with for talking to that nutcase elf I was trying to avoid it too I had a bad experience with this quest when I played it on pc years ago.

TES III, IV and V have switchable perspective. So do Fallout 3 and New Vegas.
I always play them in first person though.

Shadow Tower Abyss PS2 nearly had a western release but got cancelled afaik. There's an English translation.
I haven't done extensive testing of King's Field IV PS2 on PS3 but played it for several hours with no issues.

I tested the first 2 PSX King's Field games way back before I had CFW, by using backup injection exploit on 4.70 OFW. I built custom pkg's using some icons and stuff I ripped from official psn releases, first game is Japan only but the English translation worked ok installed on OFW

    PSX series list:
    King's Field (Japan)
King's Field II (aka King's Field US)
King's Field III (aka King's Field II US)

and there's also a demo type release called King's Field III Pilot Style (Japan).

same here it just doesn't feel right using third person in TES.

    Well that's interesting.

Apparently there's a tsunami warning from the BC/Washington border (me) right upto Alaska. Supposed to be an 8.0 earthquake up north that caused it. Supposedly some time within the next 2 hours.

    Or something.

As I mentioned recently I favour using bows and those games are only good in first person if you play that way imo.

Never been a fan of third person anyway but if a game doesn't have an alt option I'll still give it a go...there are some excellent games that are third person only.
Uncharteds and TLoU are good examples on PS3.

This isn't exactly a normal thing for us.

Edited the post above. Guess the quake already happened and it's just the wave. Meh I doubt anything will happen all the way down here.

    @ Grouch

If you want enemies to be a bit more interesting (and you should see some better loot on them) ramp up the difficulty.
You should see dremora and the like spawning on lower char levels.

Use fast travel & rest for a few days to refresh cells. SOP for these Beth games.
