Basically you pay $60-80 depending on version of game to have Vader and other characters still locked to you. To unlock those characters, Vader was the one brought up, you need to earn in-game credits (or buy them). If you wanted Vader without paying you needed an estimated amount of over 100 hours of playtime to earn him. The EA community team account responded with some crap about wanting to give players the sense of "accomplishment" to justify the high amount of credits. It became the most downvoted comment in Reddit history, last I had looked it had passed -530K downvotes.
