JRPGs have been on a big downward spiral for awhile, now you have to look at what indie and doujin groups make, like Helen's Mysterious Castle or Cosmic Star Heroine. I'd say Nintendo has the best exclusives and Sony the most varied, but that's starting to shift a bit as the Fire Emblem series is slowly going downhill with its new direction and Sony keeps releasing cinematic focused turds like The Order 1886. That may be good for the long run, though, because it means more games are being released everywhere for anyone to try.
I'm curious to how consoles will stick around because becoming mini PCs with controllers isn't going to last forever. Nintendo seems to have the right idea by experimenting with control styles, the portable Switch stuff works way better than anyone expected and shows a lot of promise to make an experience you can only get on that console. I personally think VR is going to be a dead end, but I may get surprised there as the tech improves.
