Going on the run for a whole season is ridiculous. You either disappear for years or you get caught very quickly.

Most stuff I'm getting atm is too much of a pain to look for ddl, can't be bothered using a manager, can't be bothered using newsgroups.
New tv shows and movies turn up very quickly as torrents. I haven't had any difficulty finding stuff like that besides X Company S1 a while back, and that was because I wanted it some time after it had aired.
