We have brown outs on occasion and while everyone in my house is bitching and moaning, Im sitting here on my desktop with battery backup.

Yeah the US is a big place so I guess some places would be like here where I am. I mean I see the odd brownout but real outages aren't all that common...worst case is 2-3 hours.

Yeah it doesn't happen much but unfortunately when it does it's summer.That sounds nice.
Stuff like that is inevitable if your population is increasing, everybody is running a/c flat out at the same time and the infrastructure hasn't been substantially augmented.
I think we've been pretty lucky in recent years tbh.
