2x PSX controller extension cables.

Just to warn you, I plugged an extension cable into a slim PSOne and had rumble support promptly crap out on the system itself. I suspect the extra length blew a fuse in the system somehow. Considering it's a real possibility, IMO it's not worth ever using an extension on a PSOne.

had this issue with ps? pads itself.
morons really twisted the cables, ruptured interior wire insulation and short-circuited the controller board on the consoles.
no functionality, no memory card access, nothing but a fried part of a console.
had to get new controller boards for the console.

it's not the length at all, i'm using four of them back-to-back to extend the infrared receiver for a remote.
as with any pad and cable, check it for twists and kinks.
also check continuity of each wire in the pad cable, to be sure none have bridged and shorted...

Although I do have 2x PSOne consoles (1 chipped, 1 virgin) I never use them. My main chipped PSX has never had any issues with ext cables...was that one you used genuine?

It wasn't abused wire shorting out, I bought it new. It could've been possibly wired up poorly/wrong from the factory, but it worked for 2-3 minutes before giving up

Did Sony put out any official extension cables? I don't recall seeing any. The cable was some no-brand garbage.

I've never seen any or even seen pics of any with part numbers. But there are plenty of things I haven't seen (eg NeGcon, Jogcon, PlayStation Analog Joystick...I know these exist though 'cos I've seen pics and also seen the odd one on ebay) so I'm not sure.

I do know there are various 3rd party cables around though, some are really shitty much like cheap 3rd party controllers. So yeah maybe you just got unlucky with some cheap crap.
Never heard of that happening over here with PSX or PS2 cables or even controllers...stuff can work intermittently sometimes with wire breaks but usually stuff just stops working.
