I think the old set is divx/avi rip, this new set is x264/mkv and nearly twice the file size.

x264 at twice the filesize is guaranteed to be better unless they really screwed up somewhere .

These x264/mkv rips are pretty much DVD quality Although if I actually had the retail DVDs they would look better via my blu-ray player due to 1080p upscaling.
There aren't any blu-ray remasters of DS9 or Voyager. DVD is the best available.
