I've been wanting to buy a Raspberry pi for the longest time but never bother to, now this comes out.

Only thing yuck I see is the preloaded micro sd has windows 10 on it.![]()
THE BEST METHOD to run PSX games (and everything else for that matter) is via Retroarch - http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/
If you have any questions on how to set it up on Windows please feel free to ask, its very easy.
Why, what's wrong with the RPI? It most likely has the most software written for it.
Single board PCB PC kits are kind of a preference thing, there is a bunch - http://www.lakka.tv/get/windows/
As you can see there is a alot.![]()

I'm seeing some Pi 2 cheaper over here now (they always seemed a little expensive for what they were imo...why not use an old PC that costs nothing?), but for around the same price you can get Cubietruck. Sure it's quad core vs dual core but the latter has twice the ram...don't really see much point in having a quad core if it's only 1GB or less![]()
Spoiler warning:
its a hobby thing DL, not about just throwing it up and playing with a OS, its about all the fun stuff you can do with it.

I realise that. I'm just saying the prices of the Pi over here have always been slightly inflated imo...probably because of the brand.
I mean a little system like that with 256, 512 or even 1GB ram doesn't seem very good to me. No wifi on cheaper ones doesn't really matter as a dongle is like $1, but I would think ram is important as it usually is on any device like that I've looked at (phones, tablets and media boxes).
Spoiler warning:
Ya on amazon they are taking people for a ride by charging a few bucks over the actual retail , pretty damn annoying.
a Pi3 does seem nice though.

Its a PC. Of course it has lots of software written for it. But if you want to write anything yourself to run natively, you're in for some headaches. At that point, you're just using Windows or Linux on a slower computer than you probably originally purchased the Pi on. wacko:
The biggest reason to get into microcontrollers is to design something - put it in a box and just expect it to run. Out of sight, out of mind. You can do the same with a half dollar PIC. If you want a PC to do PC things... use your PC.
But If I want to make a low power seedbox and mess with nerfed linux for a fractio nof the cost of buying a mini pc the Pi is my best option, no?
As I can't program I don't plan on writing any code for the machine.
Best option is an old PC that is free. I have so much free stuff here nothing like the Pi looks tempting, even if it is under $100.
Spoiler warning:
But an old pc is still guaranteed to consume more power than a pi.
I don't have an old laptop around, they take up more space anyway and still it would consume more power.![]()
