It isn't great if anybody can mess around with the server = broken gaming. Try to fix it and somebody else will come along and just make a mess again.
Not much different to hackers on closed systems.

    Spoiler warning:

Open Source is less risk and more to gain.
THE BEST METHOD to run PSX games (and everything else for that matter) is via Retroarch - http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/

    And why is that?

Give me some examples as to why open source is so untrustworthy.

If you're talking about gaming specifically then it's obvious it's more open to abuse

Who said anything about untrustworthy? It's fucking worthless unless you're gonna take the source and recompile it with your own modifications. I guarantee you know nothing about any language at all so any source code means nothing! I have a problem with people who beg and beg for me to open source my software and hardware. The only people who demand open source are fucking leaches looking to pirate the shit for their own benefit. Trust me, I've done it.

Do you program? Are you familiar with the Linux command line? Does it do you any good collecting legacy sources?

Nice try at a turnaround with answering my question with a question.

You don't need to be a coder to appreciate open source software and understand why it is superior to closed source crap.

You can help open source progression and not know a lick about coding, its a "community" thing.

"You don't need to be able to drive to appreciate a good car. It's an aesthetic thing"

Yeah no. As someone with a programming background I'd avoid open source for almost any coding project. The number of things that benefit from an influx of additional cooks in the kitchen are a small minority.

That's why the head honchos evaluate contributed code and see if its a valid addition or not.

No one but the head devs can alter the main repository so there won't be anyone destroying the code.

Good luck with closed source when the author quits.

Then it's not even open source.

Yes it is, the code is available, its just no one but the heads can alter the main repository.

The contributors have to submit the new/altered code to see if it will get added to the main repository.

Anyone could fork the code if they wished to and change that.
