Default Mupen64Plus won't play EMUParadise's Zelda: Ocarina of Time

    Hi,

I haven't emulated anything beyond a SNES, but I wanted to play Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I don't trust most rom download sites, so I did a bit of research, which told me EMUParadise is the place to be.

I'm running a MBP Retina, bought it in 2014. OSX. I downloaded the Mupen64Plus emulator using the download link from this site. It said it was for Mac. I also downloaded the Zelda Ocarina of Time ROM from this site. However, when I get into the Mupen64Plus on the terminal and then try to run the game, I get an error that says "... N64/Legend of Zelda, The - Ocarina of Time (USA).n64: cannot execute binary file"

Simple Google search says this error is that I'm trying to play a Linux file. Is there a simple fix for this? Or do I have to download other software to be able to play this game on a Mac?

You can easily run Mupin via Retroarch on various OSes and Hardware systems.

Trust me its WAY less hastle then running anything standalone.

If you wish for a little bit of help getting set up on mac I can give you a hand, I don't use macs though but its mostly the same ish.
THE BEST METHOD to run PSX games (and everything else for that matter) is via Retroarch - http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/
If you have any questions on how to set it up on Windows please feel free to ask, its very easy.

Thanks for the offer. I downloaded retroarch, but it says I don't have any cores. I downloaded it from here:

    http://buildbot.libretro.com/stable/1.2.2/osx-x86_64/

Googled it a bit and it says cores come separately. Where should I get it from? Does it become apparent how to launch mupin from retroarch once a core is installed and working with retroarch?

You want the Nightly since the Mac stable build is broke .

the one you want is all the way on the bottom in the mac nightly section, there are 2 builds and I'm not sure on the differences of regular and CG.

you need to open Retroarch and go to online updater and grab the cores and info file.

Retroarch does not work quite like a stand emulator and everyone has a little bit of trouble on the first run which is why I offered to help.
