Totally untrue, gaming nowadays is as good as it can be. If you played new games you wouldn't say things like that.

    That's hard as balls.
I'm the exact same and I would love to say that it's me being more picky but I've found some western TV shows that I've loved this year (Fargo) so it is anime that I think is just not as creative as it once was.

Also this won't go down well but I think a lot of anime is aimed at teenagers so it makes it harder to find good anime.

It is and I have, love paying fullprice for a half completed game with everything else locked on DLC.

If you were actually from the 80s/90s you would see that about today's gaming,

Hi there. Guy from the 80's here.

I loved paying full price for an unplayable mess of a game.

Full price being about 60 dollars.

Which by today's standards is almost 100 because lol inflation.

But what do I know. I'm only older than you.

Remember when the only source of reviews were gaming magazines?

Magazines that were often partially owned by the companies making the games?

And usually gave hilariously high scores to broken garbage that you couldn't stand playing for more than an hour or two. Not that it mattered since the game was like 2 hours long.

    Those were fun times.

Shhh, he's just mad because his mom won't buy him any newer consoles.

That and his mcjob isn't affording him the kind of money necessary to keep up with gaming.

Which is funny because gaming is only about as expensive now as it was back in those old days.

Those cartridges were worth their weight in gold.

Pretty much. Although fortunately now publishers/developers can't so easily hide behind a shell company when they want to release sub par games.

    Remember LJN and Ultra?

    Those were things.

Okay so Ultra was sorta so Konami could get around that whole "only so many games per year per studio" rule that Nintendo had. But on the other hand remember some of those first licensed games? Hilarity.

At least now we have a more open discussion setup and user review hubs. And any jackass with a youtube account can review something. Back then your options were word of mouth or borrowing/renting. Or going by the cover art. Which was.... a thing.
