Well, we have evidence of it happening before. Look at Atari now.

Of course, that had a bit to do with most of the games not having much appeal outside of collecting.

Also, common games are still common, people are just idiotic. Plus it's supply and demand. That's why I can get a game like Namco Museum Vol 5 for $25 shipped. I wouldn't say it's super rare, but it's definitely hard to find (3 CIB copies FS on ebay currently), and something you basically never see in the wild. Whereas Super Mario 64 (a game that I could build a mansion out of the carts and has a DS reprint) has a tough time going for less than $20 these days.

Since they relisted it, I'm guessing the winner didn't pay. Still hilarious though.

As well it damn should. Seems with some disc base games they often go for as much disc only as CIB which is idiotic.

Haha, yeah that Snatcher/Panzer Dragoon Saga eh?
    Keio completely exploded too.

Snatcher and PDS have pretty much always been $200+. Though both have went up a little I was thinking more about games I bought within the last few years.

Some examples: SFCD bought it late 2013 for $71 NM. Easily worth $100 now and has days where it's worth 120-140. Popful Mail bought early 2014 paid $100 and felt bad about it. Worth $150++ now. Sometimes slightly more.

I actually did a fair bit of trading for the bigger US Saturn titles that I have. Happy to have knocked them all out though, that's for sure.

Edit: I can't read. So that Popful Mail link is actually way better than I thought since it came with a ram cart and the strategy guide. So it's not nearly as bad as when just the game went for $220.

This is how I feel basically every time I check SCD/Saturn values.
Want to know the craziest thing about those Metroid prices? Try finding a UK small box version. The big box version was everywhere but the small box was rare as hen's teeth over here even when the SNES was current. I can count the number of times I saw them on one hand. You won't find one on eBay either - the ones that do show up are imports from elsewhere in Europe and even they don't appear that often.

Yeah, I'm thankful that i still have my SFCD that I bought new all those years ago, seeing how much it's starting to go for. Although it makes me sad, because I used to have some of the big name Saturn titles when I was younger. Panzer Dragoon Saga, Dragon Force, Albert Odyssey, bought all of those brand new. Wish I still had them.

When it's not always on Ebay that's when you know it's really rare. I have a handful of games like that in my collection, but they are mostly undesirable rares.

A game that's pretty rare is Forever Kingdom on PS2. It's also very undesirable. If it ever spiked because of youtube shenanigans I could not even imagine where it would go to. It might even be more scarce than .hack quarantine for instance. I certainly see that more, locally and online. Might have to do with desirability but I know it had at least 10k copies.

    Brutal.

PDS isn't even that rare fwiw. Freaking myth that perpetuated. At least 30k copies.

They're hard to find now, used to be sold in Detroit. I'll be offering conversions using OEM Kid Cuisine parts soon though. I'll let you know when pre-orders open.

Got a pleasant surprise in the form of my airbrush kit arriving a day early, and on Sunday no less.
