I still need to grab some of those region free 360 shmups as well. All this shmup talk had me fire up the Dreamcast only to get my ass kicked in Arrange Mode in Triggerheart Exelica.

Haha, yeah I've been playing some shmups on my PCE, 1CCd Blazing Lazers last week in fact.Shmups are definitely one of my favorite genres. I need to bust out the DC sometime soon, it's been too long. Although it would be really nice to actually have a decent arcade stick for it.

Ahh, played a little on the PS2 quite a while back, but never played any of the newer ones. Although I think it's Yakuza 4 was free on PS+ recently.

I think only the DC version of Triggerheart has arrange mode in it. Increased difficulty, 3 lives, 2 bombs and no continues. Fun times.
Dreamcast is one of the older systems that I have my stick compatible with so I try to get Dreamcast versions when possible. Plus sometimes US releases gut content for no reason. Going back to Th for example the XBLA version is a sad, sad little mess.
It's kind of annoying to me that we got crap like Akai Katana, Otomedius Excellent and Deathsmiles while there are so many good shmups on 360 just sitting there unlocalised. I did buy them all to show support but it doesn't really matter. Shmups are a tough/budget sell in the west.

2 and 3 are freaking amazing. The series definitely isn't for everyone though. It's completely over-the-top, very violent and also there are some very weird things hidden in the depths as well. The series has definitely delivered some of my all-time favourite scenes in a video game.
Majima is one of my favourite characters in any game he's so damn crazy/fantastic.
5 is supposed to be on par with 3 but I'll have to see. I am very happy to see that they kept the characters from 4 that I liked more. Playing as Haruka is going to be something, that's for sure. I'm not sure on it, but she has been an absolutely great character as well and if done right I could see it being great.
