I think ordering online is the only way to go for pre-orders. If the price drops before launch they'll honour it, and if it doesn't you can just cancel before they send it out.

Amazon in particular are usually pretty great, even when the publishers fuck up and change the SKUs at the last minute.

Yeah I always pre order online when I want something on release, games nowadays are pretty pointless pre orders though. They're so mass produced as you touched on.

Yeah, I'm pre-ordering less and less these days even with games that I think will go up later. Usually they dip a little first. The only stuff I pre-order now is LEs that are actually limited (NISA, some XSeed stuff etc...) and ofc Class of Heroes 2G but that was kind of a special case since it was the only way to buy it short of ebay scalpers.

Agreed. Only time I do pre-order is when I'm 99% sure the game will be decent and it's either cheap or not likely to drop in price for a while (e.g. first party Nintendo games). Helps that we tend to get stuff a little later than you guys so if it turns out to be a bad game I've got time to cancel it. Like I said, Amazon are great for this because they don't charge until it's dispatched.

I think Advanced Warfare is going to be pretty good though, really. The story looks really cool. Also Kevin Spacey.

And of course Master Chief Collection is going to be great. I can't wait to play through all the Halo's again.
