Also, rule of thumb is that it doesn't require endless hunting to actually watch. Some really classic stuff is near impossible to find now.

I wish there was more good detective anime. There is basically Master Keaton and Detective Conan (which is episodic and will never end).

In other news, figured I'd start a series on recommending anime to people who don't watch anime, because I almost never actually see people who write about anime do this while they endlessly complain that everybody hates anime because they just stereotype everything as lolis, incest and general stupidity without proving otherwise.

Gonna talk about a detective anime first.
BASICALLY the only thing I need to figure out if anything is watchable this season: lol

Gare keeps reccomending it, so I should probs watch it.

But Gare didn't like something that I liked, and I can't remember what it was...

Try Kindaichi Returns, it's on Crunchyroll right now. It's another episodic series, but it doesn't pretend to have an overarching story like Conan did. The cases are also really interesting and have higher stakes.

Really like what I've seen of Master Keaton. Urasawa has some great stories in him. Look up Monster, got an anime. Also look up 20th Century Boys, his masterpiece (sadly no anime, just a manga and a god awful live action film).

Sadly I'm not planning on risking it by trying any anime this season or last season.

I'll just say this now; Aldnoah.Zero is fantastic. One episode in and it made my jaw drop to the floor. The production values are insane, and they got the Kill la Kill composer for it, and his music style fits so well. The fall sequence is one of the most memorable scenes I have ever seen in any animated anything ever. Have no idea if it can keep this up, but it's pretty incredible at start.
