Black Bullet really fell apart there. It's like twenty different anime in a blender, but none of them fit together right. I'm still not sure which premise the show was centered around most, or if it even had a center beyond creepy loli service.
My hatred for Mahouka is mostly because it represents a ton of ideals I personally hate. Look up some of the events in the light novels; they straight up have China commit genocide on Japan in nearly the same way (and even naming) as a similar offense Japan did to China in real life. Plus, all the imperialistic and objectivism garbage, suggesting that oppression is a necessity, and just how sheer unlikable the main two characters are. The guy is as interesting as a piece of balsa wood, while his sister has a personality entirely defined by being obsessed with her brother and nothing else besides being really perfect (it must run in the family).
It's basically wish fulfillment in the most empty, disgusting form. The magic tech premise is wasted on that series.
